Turnaround & Restructuring Locations:
Remote with strong presences in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles Overview A highly regarded, middle-market advisory firm is seeking a Director to join its Turnaround & Restructuring practice. This role is designed for a senior professional with deep execution experience across distressed situations who can lead complex engagements, manage teams, and serve as a day‑to‑day client contact. The Director will play a critical role in driving value creation for underperforming businesses while helping expand the firm's restructuring footprint. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage turnaround and restructuring engagements across distressed, underperforming, or special situations environments Serve as a primary client contact, working directly with owners, boards, management teams, lenders, and other stakeholders Oversee and review short‑term liquidity analyses, 13‑week cash flow forecasts, business plans, and restructuring models Develop and execute operational improvement initiatives, including cost reduction, working capital optimization, and performance improvement programs Supervise, mentor, and review the work of Managers, Senior Associates, and Associates on client engagements Coordinate with legal advisors, lenders, private equity sponsors, and other third parties throughout the restructuring lifecycle Support business development efforts through proposal development, pitch participation, and relationship management Contribute to thought leadership, internal process improvement, and practice growth initiatives Qualifications 8-15+ years of experience in turnaround & restructuring, performance improvement, restructuring advisory, or special situations consulting Prior experience at a recognized turnaround, restructuring, investment banking, or management consulting firm Strong financial acumen, including advanced skills in cash flow modeling, liquidity forecasting, and scenario analysis Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams and lead engagement teams in fast‑paced, high‑pressure environments Experience working directly with senior executives, boards, lenders, and private equity sponsors Background supporting distressed transactions, refinancing, out‑of‑court restructurings, and/or Chapter 11 processes preferred CPA, CFA, CIRA, or MBA strongly preferred Personal Attributes Commercially minded with strong judgment and problem‑solving skills Confident communicator with executive presence and credibility Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to operate independently Entrepreneurial mindset with interest in helping grow and shape a practice
