We operate six locations across South and Central Texas, and we're looking for an Assistant Manager who knows how to run a shift, develop a team, and keep standards high when the lobby is full and the phones are ringing. About the role The Assistant Manager reports directly to the Full Manager and supervises Team Leads and Camp Counselors. You'll be responsible for ensuring assigned service and administrative areas operate in support of company goals and our mission. That includes supervising staff, caring for pets, and delivering customer satisfaction every day. Core responsibilities Proactively support the company mission statement and customer service standards Create and maintain operating procedures for assigned service areas Manage facility and personnel ensuring client and animal care services are provided in compliance with company procedures Recommend changes as needed to established client policies and monitor for effectiveness Monitor staff performance related to execution of service to expectations Oversee performance of new staff and annual performance reviews Ensure corrective action is performed as necessary, as per the Employee Handbook and properly documented Oversee interviewing and hiring in accordance with employment laws and company procedures, with proper documentation of new employee files Create and maintain staff training programs in service areas Ensure all staff complete onboarding procedures and other general staff training programs timely Monitor occupancy and service growth rates in assigned service areas Identify slow periods or downturns and coordinate with marketing to feature services and increase revenue Create new programs related to service area as needed and coordinate marketing plans with the Area Manager or Owners Handle client service issue escalations in a manner that maintains the company's reputation Set area goals to support overall business goals and initiate changes to rectify shortfalls Monitor payroll efficiency and cost versus revenues earned Prioritize and complete duties within the overall business goals Maintain "to do" lists and project lists with priorities, target completion dates, and current status Delegate tasks that others can complete under your supervision and guidance Meet critical deadlines or request assistance from the management team Day-to-day operations You'll help the Manager oversee employee management and camp operations across every area of the facility: The kennel area — ensure a safe and clean environment (always) for campers and employees Day Camper and Night Camper checklists — continually update and monitor Kennel cards — monitor information for proper feedings, medicine requirements, and checkout dates Daily medicine checklists — monitor for proper dosage and ensure all daily checklists are complete Indoor and outdoor play areas — ensure a safe and clean environment Front desk reception area — ensure proper functioning of all day camp and boarding operations including reservations and nightly close-out functions through the Point-of-Sale program Camp Bow Wow policies and procedures — follow all of them, every day Retail area — maintain the lobby and assist with inventory Laundry and food prep area — maintain a clean and safe environment Break room and rest room area — maintain a clean and safe environment Supplies — monitor and ensure adequate supply levels Grooming/bath services — dogs go home clean, smelling fresh, nails trimmed, hair brushed Camper belongings — labeled and returned in good, clean condition All campers — healthy, happy, and having fun Supervise, train, and schedule Camp Counselors Participate in Camp Counselor interviews and the hiring process Ensure all Camp Counselors are properly trained and supervised Monitor all Camp Counselor Doggy First Aid and CPR certifications Ensure all Camp Counselors understand and follow policies, procedures, and regulations Develop and monitor Camp Counselor schedules Monitor attendance and tardiness of Camp Counselors Assume responsibility to cover or find coverage of any uncovered shifts with no expectation of receiving compensatory time-off for this coverage Monitor opening and closing shift checklists Consult in disciplinary actions, commendations, and performance reviews of Camp Counselors Be a hands-on manager — Camp Counselors work with you, not for you Promote teamwork and fun at Camp Bow Wow Create and instill the Camp Bow Wow experience Conduct new camper interviews to ensure socially acceptable behavior — creating a fun and safe experience for our campers and our Camp Counselors Monitor vaccination records with each reservation and check-in; use reminder cards Ensure boarding cards are filled in correctly with all pertinent information Ensure quality customer service — troubleshoot and problem-solve with a customer-friendly attitude Follow through with all emergency procedures and ensure Camp Counselors are trained in them Promote the "pampering business" — we provide spacious indoor/outdoor play areas and roomy kennels with cozy cots, and Camp Counselors provide the care and attention Other duties Be available as needed for weekend or holiday pet or facility issues that escalate to the management team Oversee proper use of equipment in assigned areas and maintenance as required Maintain the interior and exterior of the property and all related issues (lighting, interior design) Consult with the Area Director on Camp Bow Wow related subjects Involved in internal and external marketing of Camp Bow Wow (off-site events, brochure/postcard/letter design and printed content) Manage projects as assigned The non-negotiables These are the things we will not bend on. Due to the fluctuating and physical demands of Camp Bow Wow's operation (cleaning, bending, standing for long periods, stooping, lifting up to 40 lbs, and possibly working weekends and holidays), it may be necessary that each employee perform a multitude of different functions. As an essential part of your job, you'll be expected to help others when the occasion arises, just as other employees are expected to help you. You may be expected to perform other tasks as needed or directed. Adhere to all written mandatory standards of operations, policies, procedures, manuals, memos, and oral instructions — all of which make up the essential functions of the job Ensure the utmost safety and cleanliness for campers and counselors Interview all dogs for socially acceptable behavior Monitor all Day Campers and Night Campers and ensure a clean and safe environment Ensure all feedings and medications for campers with daily checklists Follow established service protocols and procedures for training of staff Be a hands-on manager — participate and assist in all operational procedures, leading by example Hold quarterly meetings with Camp Counselors Attend weekly one-on-one meetings (in person, phone, or video) with Owner(s) and other management teams Maintain retail inventory and supplies Maintain attendance and tardiness records of Camp Counselors Assist in the budget process and monitoring of expense/revenue goals Assist with overseeing of maintenance projects within Camp Bow Wow property No facial jewelry on face while on shift Must be punctual No guaranteed location — you can be moved to another local location for the needs of the business Typical shifts are 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM or 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM (or finished for the day), depending on the day and need for coverage Full-time, 45 hours per week , including alternating weekends and holidays Compensation & benefits $38,000-$43,000/year based on experience Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off (PTO) Genuine path to General Manager and beyond for the right person
