Overview:
St. Thomas More Cathedral School is seeking a dedicated Extended Day Director to enrich our before/after-school program. This role is ideal for someone passionate about fostering a nurturing, faith-based environment for children while adhering to the highest standards of childcare and education as outlined by diocesan guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Management
  • Ensure the extended day program operates according to diocesan licensing requirements and school policies. Represent the school at diocesanwide meetings and collaborate with the principal on budget-related matters. Enrichment
  • Provide a robust offering of activities and play to enhance the student experience, provide a safe space for continued academic studies, and continue to focus on the development of the child as a whole person. Staff Supervision and Training
  • Oversee, recruit, and train Extended Day Care staff, ensuring compliance with all training and background checks. Development of Policies
  • Provide consistent behavior management and maintain a structured yet adaptable program atmosphere in accordance with school policies. Safety and Compliance
  • Regularly update and maintain personnel and staff credentials, implement school emergency procedures, and manage health and safety protocols, including allergy awareness and food safety. Parent and Community Engagement
  • Act as a liaison between the school and families, maintaining open lines of communication and cultivating positive relationships with parents. Leadership and Mentorship
  • Create a supportive and interactive environment for students attending the program. Requirements
  • Proven experience in childcare management or educational leadership, preferably within a Catholic school setting. Required certifications: CPR, First Aid, and MAT Certification (must be completed before the start of the school year). Must undergo a comprehensive background check including fingerprinting. Completion of the VIRTUS seminar within 45 days of employment. Qualifications
  • A passionate commitment to Catholic education and values.
Excellent organizational and leadership skills. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with staff, students, and parents. Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and adapt to changing situations. Applicants should hold a BA/BS degree or a CDA, Child Development Associate Certificate.
