We're looking for an Assurance Manager who is ready to lead engagements, develop people, and play a key role in shaping the future of our nonprofit practice. As a Manager, you'll serve as the critical link between Principals, clients, and internal teams by leading moderate to complex engagements from start to finish. You'll bring both technical expertise and leadership to ensure high-quality client service while developing and mentoring staff. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing client delivery, team leadership, and strategic thinking, while staying closely connected to the nonprofit sector. What You'll Do Client Engagement & Delivery (60%) Lead nonprofit engagements including financial statement audits, Single Audits (Uniform Guidance), and compliance testing Oversee engagements from planning through completion, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met Review and supervise preparation of Forms 990, 990-T, and 990-PF Serve as a primary client contact and build strong, ongoing relationships Evaluate internal controls and proactively identify risks and opportunities Monitor engagement progress, anticipate challenges, and communicate solutions Lead onboarding for new clients and ensure a seamless experience Maintain strict confidentiality and adherence to regulatory standards Leadership & Team Development (30%) Lead, coach, and develop staff across multiple levels Assign work strategically based on team strengths and development goals Deliver meaningful feedback, conduct performance evaluations, and support career growth Play an active role in recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding Foster a strong team culture through recognition, accountability, and engagement Address performance challenges directly and constructively Help shape career pathways and ensure development plans are in place Professional & Business Development (10%) Continue building technical expertise and industry knowledge Participate in professional organizations and community involvement Contribute to thought leadership through training, presentations, or articles Identify opportunities to expand services and strengthen client relationships Support firm growth through networking and cross-selling What You Bring Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or related field) 5+ years of public accounting experience CPA required Strong experience with nonprofit audits, Single Audits, and Forms 990 (preferred) Advanced knowledge of nonprofit accounting and regulatory requirements Proven ability to lead teams, manage multiple engagements, and meet deadlines Exceptional communication, analytical, and project management skills A passion for developing others and building strong client relationships What Sets You Apart You think strategically while executing tactically You lead with emotional intelligence and accountability You're energized by developing people and building high-performing teams You're curious, proactive, and always looking for better ways to serve clients Work Environment Primarily onsite in Brookfield, WI (hybrid flexibility may be available) Seasonal workload: ~55 hours/week during busy season; 40-45 hours otherwise; Summer Fridays Why SVA?
