Any U.S. Citizen who has acquired special knowledge or expertise regarding the nural or cultural resources of Denali Nional Park and Preserve, by reason of having either lived or worked in or near the unit may apply. Duties Help This is an excepted service appointment, th confers competitive stus after two years and upon meeting all performance and OPM qualificion requirements. This position is loced in Denali Nional Park and Preserve in the Visitor and Resource Protection Division. Duties include but are not limited to the following: Performs dispch and call-taking services for a wide variety of complex public safety-reled incidents and operions. As an advanced senior dispcher serving in a complex dispch environment, provides training to lower-graded and/or new dispchers and informs them on proper procedures as required. Operes a multi-frequency radio console for multi-units and areas. Prioritizes radio traffic and reled communicions. Serves as primary point of contact for Law Enforcement and other public safety responders. Provides training to new employees. Accesses, analyzes, and utilizes informion from a variety of nional, ste, or local law enforcement-reled computer dabases/systems/networks. As an advanced senior dispcher, works with dispchers, technicians, and others on troubleshooting computer network outages th do not respond to standard solutions. At the higher grade levels, provides technical guidance, oriention, and training to new employees or lower-level dispchers. Assists law enforcement officers with investigions and court document preparion. Performs records management duties including maintenance of incident logs, da-entry, quality control, and preparion of stistical reports. At theGS-2151-06

Incumbent must function efficiently in a confined space for extended periods with no breaks and no opportunity to leave the confines of the Communicions Center. The dispcher is considered an "essential employee," meaning he/she is required to work most holidays, report for duty during adverse weher conditions, and be expected to work for long hours exceeding normally scheduled shifts in case of emergencies. Position is sedentary with high amounts of stress. Incumbent is subject to shift work, roting shift work, and uncommon tours of duty. Work requires use of the voice in vocal communicions for periods of hours a time. Voice must be clear, audible, and tone effective with words plainly spoken and understandable. Incumbent must be able to hear clearly and discern a variety of audible communicions and signals simultaneously. Incumbent must be able to read critical informion from multiple sources, including computer screen, fax, and written log quickly and accurely. The work is of an emergency nure and is emotionally stressful. Incumbent must possess manual dexterity sufficient to opere computer terminals/keyboards and reled equipment and to maintain written logs. Work involves occasional lifting of boxes and supplies up to weights of 50 pounds.Working Conditions:
The work is normally performed in a well-lighted and temperure-controlled room. Noise levels are routinely high due to electronic equipment, telephones, radios, and other discussions ongoing in the performance of duties. The setting is typically confined and secure, and entrance and egress is controlled. During the training period and/or on other occasions, the incumbent assigned to accompany field law enforcement personnel in prol vehicles to learn or gain a more detailed familiarizion with agency field opering procedures and jurisdictional boundaries. Incumbent may not leave the center unless relieved by another qualified dispcher.
