Full-Time Position Summary Pacific West Transportation is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Dispatcher / Operations Coordinator to support daily transportation operations across multiple states. This role serves as a critical communication link between drivers, customers, project teams, and company leadership to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient execution of transportation services. The Dispatcher / Operations Coordinator is responsible for scheduling drivers and equipment, monitoring fleet activity, supporting DOT compliance initiatives, coordinating customer service requests, and assisting with operational reporting and administrative functions. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses strong problem-solving abilities, and can effectively manage competing priorities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Dispatch & Operations Coordinate daily dispatch of drivers, equipment, and transportation resources across multiple states. Monitor driver schedules and equipment availability to maximize utilization and productivity. Communicate work assignments, schedule changes, and customer requirements to field personnel. Track job progress and provide real-time operational updates to management. Respond to operational issues, delays, breakdowns, weather events, and customer concerns. Coordinate emergency or after-hours transportation support when required. Maintain accurate dispatch records and operational logs. Driver & Fleet Coordination Monitor driver hours, availability, and assignments. Assist in ensuring compliance with Hours of Service (HOS) requirements and company policies. Coordinate equipment movement, maintenance scheduling, and repair needs with Fleet Management. Support driver onboarding, orientation, and operational training activities. Verify required licenses, certifications, and qualifications are maintained. Compliance & Administrative Support Assist with DOT and FMCSA compliance tracking and documentation. Monitor ELD reporting and identify potential compliance concerns. Assist with incident reporting, accident documentation. Prepare operational reports, utilization metrics, and performance data. Support payroll processing by reviewing driver time records and job allocations. Customer Service Serve as a primary point of contact for transportation customers and internal project teams. Coordinate transportation requests and communicate scheduling updates. Resolve service issues professionally and efficiently. Build positive working relationships with customers, drivers, and field personnel. Qualifications Required High school diploma or GED. Minimum two (2) years of experience in dispatching, logistics, transportation operations, fleet coordination, or a related field. Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Outlook. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Preferred Experience in construction, environmental services, transportation, trucking, or industrial services. Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations. Experience with ELD systems and Hours of Service requirements. Experience with fleet management software, GPS tracking systems, or dispatch platforms. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to make sound operational decisions under pressure. Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to communicate effectively with drivers, customers, and management. Strong customer service orientation. Ability to analyze operational data and identify efficiencies. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Physical Requirements Primarily office-based work. Frequent sitting, typing, and computer use. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Ability to work extended hours as operational needs require.
Compensation Target Salary Range:
$60,000 - $75,000 annually Actual compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, skills, and market conditions.
