Job Description

Organizational Background:
T&T Trucking specializes in the transportation of non-hazardous dry bulk commodities throughout the Western United States. Our fleet hauls a variety of materials including aggregates, agricultural products, minerals, industrial materials, and other bulk commodities using specialized pneumatic, hopper, and end-dump trailer equipment. Our dispatch team coordinates time-sensitive deliveries while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, customer service, and operational efficiency.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a Dispatcher to join our transportation operations team in Lodi, CA. The Dispatcher is responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimizing daily trucking routes involving the transportation of dry bulk commodities throughout the Western United States. This position works closely with drivers, customers, and operations personnel to ensure timely and efficient pickups and deliveries. Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities - Transportation Dispatcher Coordinate and dispatch drivers, equipment, and loads to ensure timely pickups and deliveries. Plan, route, and optimize daily schedules based on customer needs, driver availability, equipment type, service windows, and geographic efficiency. Monitor route progress in real time and make adjustments to address traffic, weather, delays, breakdowns, or customer changes. Communicate load details, routing instructions, appointment times, and service updates clearly to drivers and internal teams. Track vehicle locations, shipment status, and estimated arrival times using dispatch software, GPS, and/or transportation management systems (TMS). Maintain constant communication with drivers to provide support, resolve issues in transit, and ensure service commitments are met. Ensure efficient route planning to maximize productivity, reduce empty miles, minimize fuel usage, and improve on-time performance. Schedule and confirm pickup and delivery appointments with customers, warehouses, shippers, and receivers. Respond quickly to service disruptions, including missed appointments, equipment issues, traffic incidents, and delivery exceptions. Maintain accurate dispatch records, driver status updates, trip details, delivery confirmations, and route changes. Ensure compliance with company policies, safety procedures, and transportation regulations, including DOT and hours-of-service requirements where applicable. Coordinate with operations, customer service, sales and shop teams to support smooth day-to day transportation activities. Assist with load planning, capacity management, and resource allocation to support efficient fleet utilization. Provide customers or internal stakeholders with shipment updates, ETAs, and issue resolution as needed. Identify opportunities to improve routing efficiency, service performance, and dispatch processes. All other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to read and interpret instructions, routing software, and operational procedures. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation. Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with drivers, customers, and team members. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and transportation management systems (TMS). Experience/Qualifications Experience dispatching bulk commodity, aggregate, agricultural, construction material, or dry bulk transportation preferred. Experience in transportation dispatch, load planning, route optimization, and fleet coordination preferred. Strong knowledge of routing, scheduling, and real-time problem solving in a fast-paced transportation environment. Experience using dispatch software, GPS tracking systems, ELD platforms, and transportation management systems (TMS). Familiarity with DOT compliance, driver hours-of-service, and transportation safety practices preferred. Excellent communication, multitasking, and decision-making skills. 1-3 years' experience in dispatching and routing.
