Job Description

Job Overview Santa Monica Express is a courier and same-day delivery company serving all of Southern California since 1984. We're looking for an experienced Courier Dispatcher to own day-to-day coordination of our driver fleet — keeping same-day jobs and scheduled routes running on time, every time.
This is a high-accountability seat:
you'll be the operational hub between drivers, customers, and management, and you'll have real ownership over how the floor runs. Responsibilities Dispatch and coordinate ~20 drivers across same-day deliveries and scheduled routes throughout Southern California Assign, sequence, and adjust jobs in real time using our ADO dispatch platform Communicate constantly with drivers — routing, re-routing, problem-solving delays, traffic, and exceptions on the fly Serve as the point of contact for customer delivery updates and issue resolution Track on-time performance and keep the board moving efficiently under pressure Flag recurring problems and help tighten operations over time Skills 3+ years of experience as a courier dispatcher (same-day, last-mile, route, or freight courier) — this is non-negotiable Proven ability to coordinate a fleet of multiple drivers simultaneously without dropping the ball Comfortable working in dispatch/TMS software (experience with ADO is a strong plus) Calm, clear, and decisive under pressure — you can juggle 20 moving pieces and keep your composure Strong communicator with both drivers and customers Nice to have Bilingual (English/Spanish) Familiarity with the Southern California / LA metro service area experience improving dispatch processes or on-time metrics Why Santa Monica Express We're an established, family-run operation where a strong dispatcher isn't a cog — you'll have direct ownership of the floor, a tight team, and a real say in how things run.
