This position serves as a key operational resource between dispatch staff, drivers, customers, and management to ensure efficient execution of daily transportation activities. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in intermodal transportation, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Essential Responsibilities Coordinate and dispatch drivers for rail, port, and local container operations. Monitor driver progress, appointment schedules, and service commitments. Track container movements and provide status updates to customers. Coordinate with rail terminals, ports, customers, and internal departments. Resolve service failures, delays, and operational disruptions. Assist with load planning and driver utilization. Monitor driver performance, attendance, and productivity. Identify and escalate safety, compliance, or service concerns. Support onboarding and training of new dispatch personnel. Maintain accurate operational records and reports. Assist management with KPI tracking and operational performance metrics. Participate in after-hours communication and issue resolution when necessary. Qualifications Minimum 3 years of dispatch experience in trucking or intermodal transportation. Strong knowledge of port and rail operations. Experience working with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), GPS platforms, and dispatch software. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to manage 25-50 drivers simultaneously. Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Port of Long Beach and Los Angeles operations. Experience with BNSF and Union Pacific rail ramps. Familiarity with detention, demurrage, chassis management, and container tracking. Experience preparing operational reports and KPIs.
