It is a General Law City with a Council/Manager form of government. Simi Valley encompasses an area of 41.7 square miles and is located in the southeast portion of Ventura County. Join the Simi Valley Police Department as a 9‑1‑1 Dispatcher Trainee and become an essential part of our emergency response team. In this role, you'll provide life‑saving assistance, connect callers with critical resources, and help protect the safety and well‑being of our community. Paid training provided — no prior dispatch experience required.
POSITION DETAILS
Salary Range:
$26.51/hour + Excellent Benefits 3% Cost of Living adjustment increase effective 7/13/26 3% Cost of Living adjustment increase effective 7/12/27
NOTE:
The City recently completed a compensation study comparing its salary ranges with those of other local agencies. As a result, 87% of salary ranges will be adjusted upward at various intervals. As ranges are adjusted, job postings will be updated to reflect these changes.
Status:
Full-time regular position
Work Schedule:
4/10 (four 10-hour shifts), rotating every four months
Requirements:
Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays
Promotion Opportunity:
Police Dispatcher at $29.96/hour with excellent benefits
Growth Potential:
Up to $79,539/year ($38.24/hour)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Additional specialized training in communications or a related field is desirable.
Experience:
Some emergency or non-emergency dispatch experience is desirable.
Special Requirements:
Must be 18 years of age as of the date of hire United States citizen or meet citizenship requirements High School Diploma or GED Good moral character with no felony convictions
