Job Description

P&E Express , a fast-growing, ambitious new trucking company. Unlike the giant corporate carriers where you are just a number, we operate like a tight-knit family. We currently run a fleet of 5 Trucks with Dry Van Trailers and are looking for a sharp, driven Freight Dispatcher to help us scale. If you want to have a direct impact on a company's success and grow your career as we grow our fleet, this is the place for you.
Position Overview:
As our primary Freight Dispatcher, you will be the pulse of our operations. You'll be responsible for keeping our trucks moving, maximizing revenue per mile, and building strong relationships with both our drivers and freight brokers. We need someone who is resourceful, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and knows how to negotiate. What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
Load Booking & Negotiation:
Source profitable loads using DAT, Truckstop, and direct broker networks. Negotiate the highest possible rates per mile.
Driver Management:
Route and dispatch drivers, keeping their hours of service (HOS) and preferences in mind. Act as their primary point of contact for issues on the road.
Broker Relations:
Build and maintain strong relationships with freight brokers to secure dedicated lanes and repeat business.
Problem Solving:
Efficiently handle daily logistics hurdles, including weather delays, breakdowns, detention tracking, and layovers.
Status Tracking:
Monitor transit progress and provide check-calls/updates to brokers and customers. What We're Looking For (Qualifications):
Experience:
Minimum of [1-2] years of experience in freight dispatching or logistics management preferred (but we will train the right motivated individual).
Market Knowledge:
Familiarity with spot market load boards (DAT, Truckstop) and standard industry rates.
Communication Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication. You must be able to negotiate firmly with brokers while maintaining a supportive, respectful relationship with drivers.
Tech Savvy:
Comfortable using ELD monitoring software, TMS platforms, and standard tech tools (Google Workspace/Excel).
Thick Skin & Calm Under Pressure:
Logistics changes fast. We need someone who solves problems logically when things don't go according to plan.
Pay & Perks:
Competitive base pay ( $45,000 ) plus 1% commission per load booked . Direct access to ownership—your ideas will be heard and implemented. Massive room for career advancement as the fleet expands.
Pay:
From $45,000.00 per year
