at Medical Express Ambulance Service in Skokie, Illinois, United States Job Description Ambulance Communications Center - Call Taker The Call Taker is responsible for handling all incoming calls to our EMS Communications Center. A desirable candidate will have knowledge of Medical Terminology and Customer Service experience. Candidate must have excellent communication and data entry skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

: + Receive emergency and non-emergency requests for ambulance and medicar (wheelchair van) transportation. + Properly screen telephone calls and electronic communications. + Data entry. + HIPAA Compliance. + Ability to make decisions consistent with policy and guidelines. + Ability to think logically and quickly during an emergency.

QUALIFICATIONS

: + Experience in communications and customer service. + Good judgment and remain calm in high-stress situations. + Detail-oriented and able to perform clerical functions. + Must be able to read, write and comprehend the English language. + Must be able to communicate effectively, via telephone and radio to obtain and provide relevant information.

EDUCATION , LICENSURE & CERTIFICATIONS

: + High School graduate or General Equivalency Diploma ( GED ).

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

: + Licensed
