The Dispatcher is vital in maintaining communication with drivers, updating driver files, managing schedules, and ensuring compliance with licensing and safety regulations. In this role it is essential to have a strong passion for supply chain and logistics, combined with exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills, in this fast-paced environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None Duties/Responsibilities:
Communicate effectively with operations staff regarding scheduling or driver issues. Monitor operators and trip status, making adjustments and reassignments as necessary to ensure on-time performance. Maintain two-way communication with drivers and customers on various platforms, providing information on customers, cancellations, directional assistance as necessary, and hours of service. Promote and practice safety awareness among staff and drivers. Answer phone calls promptly and professionally, providing accurate information. Provide accurate and detailed trip data to drivers. Enter loads into Transportation Management Software, and communicate to drivers. Update customers on the status of shipments and assist with other inquiries. Search load boards and monitor current customer load boards. Coordinate maintenance is processed and send out to vendors. Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations or Terminal Manager.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work in fast-paced, high-stress environments. Self-motivated and success-oriented with a team player attitude. One year of experience in a dispatcher or brokerage role involving
DOT/FMCSA
requirements for Class A CDL drivers (tractor-trailers) is preferred. Exceptional interpersonal communication, customer relations, and conflict resolution skills. High proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other Windows applications. Familiarity with trucking safety regulations, including ELD systems, hours of service, and CDL driver qualifications is preferred. Experience working with Transportation Management Software, specifically Prophecy or TMW, is preferred. Familiarity with load boards such as DAT, Sylectus, XPO, Carter, etc., is preferred.
Work Environment:
Office setting with frequent communication with drivers and operations staff. Fast-paced work environment requiring the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Travel requirement:
Minimal travel may be required for training or meetings, as needed.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma required; Associate or Bachelor's Degree preferred. Experience in the freight industry is recommended and preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to sit for extended periods while working at a desk. May involve occasional lifting of office supplies or equipment weighing up to 20 pounds. Must possess adequate hearing and vision to communicate effectively and monitor communication devices.
Pay:
$19.00 - $23.00 per hour
