Under direction of the Warehouse Manager or Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in coordinating and managing the transportation of material. This is a vital position that requires strong organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to analyze transportation data. If you have experience in dispatching and transportation management systems, we encourage you to apply. This person will also act as backup to various positions in warehouse or delivery. We currently operate a distribution facility with customer deliveries being sent out multiple times a day in the general Wichita area using company trucks and drivers along with supplying other Elliott Electric Supply stores in South and Western, KS.

Responsibilities:

• Dispatch freight to appropriate drivers and ensure timely delivery
• Coordinate with drivers to optimize routes and schedules
• Utilize transportation management systems to track shipments and update information
• Communicate with customers to provide updates on delivery status
• Analyze transportation data to identify areas for improvement and cost savings
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations
• Handle any issues or emergencies that arise during transportation

Skills:

• Proven experience in dispatching and transportation planning
• Familiarity with various phone systems and communication tools
• Strong analytical skills to analyze transportation data and make informed decisions
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED with warehouse or distribution experience preferred. Able to identify product by size, type, style, color or product code. Must be able to read orders/match orders on shipping tickets to items picked. Basic math skills and reasoning skills. Certification of power-truck equipment. Operate inventory control equipment, i.e., bar-coding equipment, handheld devices.

Physical Requirements:

This is a safety sensitive position therefore the ability to work in a constant state of awareness and in a safe manner is imperative. Able to move/lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted. Able to withstand extreme temperatures in a typical warehouse environment. Position spends a large amount of time standing, walking, lifting, pulling and pushing. Position may require climbing of ladders for top-level selection Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
