Job Description:
Job Requirements General Summary The Building Automation Technician (BAT) is responsible for monitoring various critical hospital systems, initiating emergency codes (Blue, OBERT, RRT, etc), taking telephone calls from staff, physicians, visitors, and patients, and dispatching calls for service to various departments. The BAT ensures 24-hour coverage of the department and communicates regularly with hospital leadership, staff, visitors, and patients. I. Principal Responsibilities and Tasks The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified. 1. Critical Systems Monitoring - Follows established policies and procedures to actively monitor, manage, and dispatch staff for numerous hospital life safety systems, including: A. Fire Alarm B. Building Automations / Critical Space Temperature and Humidity Monitoring Systems C. Code Blue / Medical Alert Systems D. Infant Protection E. Panic Alarms F. Access Control / Security Systems G. Medical Gas Alarms H. Emergency Call Boxes I. Pneumatic Tube System J.

coordination between the hospital and transport companies. 2. Call Dispatch / Assignment A. Receive emergency and non-emergency security and facilities calls for service and assign/dispatch as appropriate B. Monitor the facilities work order system and assign calls C. During non-business hours, receive emergency medical equipment service calls and coordinates repairs with on-call technicians D. Dispatches all emergency medical calls, including Code Blue, OBERT, RRT, etc. 3. Outside Coordination A. Manages all hospital calls with Baltimore County Police / Fire / 911. B. Coordinates with outside vendors for emergency repairs / services. 4. During non-business hours (or if assigned), answer the hospital's main telephone operator line and assist callers with patient information, transfers to units/departments, etc. Work Experience Education and Experience 1. High School Diploma or GED, required. Vocational or Technical Degree, preferred. 2. Two (2) years' relevant experience, preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 1. Able to use Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. 2. Understands the use and procedure around the electronic medical record system. 3. Basic computer troubleshooting (rebooting, logins, application uses, etc). 4. Clear, legible writing for log keeping. 5. Critical thinking, strong knowledge of hospital policies and procedures.
Pay Range:
$18.57 - $25.99
