Job Description

Department:
Transportation/Service Position Summary The Ship‑Loose Lead is responsible for identifying, verifying, and organizing all materials lists for items that are not installed in the factory and must ship loose to the job site. This role is critical to on-time delivery including ensuring set crews and builders have the correct materials, in the correct quantities, staged safely and accessibly to complete on‑site assembly without delays. Key Responsibilities
  • Review sales orders, production prints, and ship‑loose sheets to determine required materials. Conduct root cause analysis to identify issues in supply chain processes; implement continuous process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Walk units to confirm what is installed versus ship loose.
  • Compile accurate shiploose materials lists; including structural fasteners, exterior finishes, interior finishes, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing items.
  • Verify the correct sizes, quantities, colors, and specifications for all materials.
  • Coordinate with Components, Roofing, Siding, Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Finish and QC departments.
  • Ensure materials are loaded in proper order of importance and never placed in second‑floor boxes.
  • Confirm that all ship‑loose materials are protected, wrapped, and staged for safe transport and easy access.
  • Ensure labeling of all materials as well as picture and video documentation prior to shipment.
  • Maintain clear documentation and communicate shortages or discrepancies prior to shipment.
  • Proven experience in warehouse management, logistics coordination, or supply chain roles within manufacturing or distribution environments.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation planning, freight management, shipping & receiving procedures, and inventory control systems. Skills & Qualifications
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and sales orders.
  • Knowledge of modular construction and job‑site sequencing preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a production or warehouse environment. Success Measures
  • Accurate and complete ship‑loose packages.

  • Exposure to noise, dust, and temperature variations
  • Frequent interaction with lumber, hardware, tools, and other construction materials
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toe boots
  • Work on concrete floors with occasional use of ladders or platforms
  • Indoor modular manufacturing facility and office environment. Weight Handling Requirements
  • Frequent lifting/carrying: 20-50 lbs (boxes of hardware, tools, small materials)
  • Occasional lifting: 50-75 lbs (larger bundles, shiploose kits, cabinetry parts)
  • Rare/team lifting: 75-100+ lbs (with assistance or mechanical aids)
  • Tool/equipment handling: 5-25 lbs regularly Physical Activity & Frequency Constant (67-100% of shift)
  • Standing and walking on the production or warehouse floor (6-10+ hours/day)
  • Repetitive hand and arm use for sorting, packing, and moving materials
  • Visual inspection for accuracy and quality Frequent (34-66% of shift)

  • Reaching (including overhead for storage racks or staging shelves)
