Job Description

Certified and Non-Certified Public Safety Dispatcher
  • Sanford Regional Communications Center Are you ready to be a lifeline for your community? The City of Sanford is accepting applications for full-time Public Safety Dispatchers
  • both Certified and Non-Certified
  • to join the Sanford Regional Communications Center. This role is critical to our public safety team, providing the essential like between the public and emergency response services. As a dispatcher, you'll be the calm and steady voice during emergencies, coordinating law enforcement, fire and rescue responses quickly and effectively. This position is more than a job

As a Public Safety Dispatcher, you'll operate advanced communication equipment, handle both routine and emergency calls, and coordinate responses across law enforcement, fire, and rescue departments. You'll monitor public safety frequencies, maintain situational awareness, and retrieve crucial information from complex teletype and video terminals. All applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Certified applicants must possess current
E-911, EMD
(Emergency Medical Dispatch), and EFD (Emergency Fire Dispatch) certifications. Working knowledge of IMC is desirable. Certified applicants will undergo a comprehensive screening process which includes an oral board, background check and polygraph examination. Non-Certified applicants must successfully complete the required training and obtain E-911, EMD, and EFD Certifications within an established timeframe. Non-Certified applicants will undergo a comprehensive screening process which includes an Assessment Test, oral board, background check and polygraph examination. If you have the ability to remain composed in high-stress situations, have strong coordination skills to ensure timely and accurate dispatching, and are detail orientated; capable of handling complex equipment and critical information retrieval
