Job Description

Description The Commission on Aging is seeking a highly organized individual to fill the Part-Time Transportation Dispatcher position. This position will be responsible for processing transportation requests, including scheduling and dispatching transit resources to meet participant needs. It may be necessary to make referrals to other transportation resources. The ideal candidate will not only be highly organized but also possess excellent communication and computer skills. The Commission on Aging staff works as a team to provide services to older adults and persons with disabilities, so being a team player is a must! On-the-job training will be offered.
Typical Schedule:
Weekdays from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm, with occasional shifts extending to 5:00 pm and some Saturday mornings required. Examples of Duties Receives requests from the public for transporation service. Evaluates request to determine the most appropriate resources and schedules services as appropriate. Schedules transit services to meet participant needs by making the most efficient and effective use of available COA resources. Monitors active transportation resources and dispatches resources to meet current demand for services. Utilizes technology, including routing software, video feeds, and GPS mapping data, to maintain real-time situational awareness of COA transportation assets. Performs other duties as required and/or assigned by the COA Transportation Coordinator or COA Director.
Typical Qualifications Education:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
Two years of customer service experience that includes application of technology to meet customer needs. Skills Must be able to read a map and provide directions Must be able to use intermediate-level technology applications Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Supplemental Information Must possess a valid Michigan driver's license. Must submit to pre-employment physical, background check, and drug screening. All offers of employment are contingent upon passing a pre-employment physical, background check, and drug screening, which includes marijuana. Minimum benefits offered, which are also based on hours worked.
