This position is responsible for driver load planning, dispatch operations, freight brokerage coordination, customer communication, and ensuring efficient movement of freight while maintaining compliance with DOT and Hours of Service regulations. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, communicates effectively, solves problems proactively, and understands the importance of customer service and operational efficiency. Roles and Responsibilities The Dispatcher will match drivers with loads, help secure adequate freight capacity for company assets, and coordinate transportation from shippers to final destinations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Learn the business from the ground up through hands-on training involving: Customer service Transportation logistics Geographical load analysis Equipment management Balance and maintain equipment availability by routing outbound drivers based on coverage needs Pair trucks that are empty or unloading soon with available freight Confirm dispatch assignments with drivers and other departments Broker freight and secure backhaul opportunities for drivers Implement contingency logistics plans in the event of accidents, delays, or equipment breakdowns Ensure efficient turnaround times to minimize driver downtime Manage daily workflow and maintain communication with drivers throughout the day Provide shipment updates to customers via phone, email, and customer portals Prioritize and manage load flow between TLSI and Cayman Express Handle after-hours dispatch responsibilities and emergency calls when necessary Perform order entry and driver rating functions Monitor and maintain compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and HOS regulations Qualifications & Experience Previous experience in the transportation or logistics industry required 3-5 years of dispatching experience preferred Experience in freight brokerage, sales, negotiating, and closing deals preferred Internship or logistics-related education considered a plus Strong understanding of: Driver Hours of Service (HOS) DOT and Safety regulations OTR and local dispatch operations Freight routing and load planning Driver management and communication Preferred Skills Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment Strong problem-solving and geographical planning skills Customer and carrier relationship management experience Knowledge of rating freight and providing quotes Positive attitude and strong work ethic Strong written and verbal communication skills Cost management and operational efficiency mindset
