Full Job Description Description:
The Heavy Equipment Transportation Dispatcher is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating the transportation of material handling and heavy equipment loads. This role ensures compliance with transportation regulations, manages driver communication, tracks shipments, and resolves delivery issues. Schedule and dispatch drivers for heavy haul and equipment Coordinate pickup and delivery of construction, agricultural, or industrial equipment Communicate with drivers regarding routes, schedules, permits, and delays Monitor shipments using GPS and dispatch software Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, oversize/overweight permits, and safety requirements Maintain accurate dispatch logs, load records, and delivery documentation Coordinate with customers, project managers, brokers, and mechanics Handle emergency situations, breakdowns, or route changes Optimize routes and equipment utilization to reduce transportation costs Verify driver qualifications, hours of service, and equipment availability
Requirements:
Strong communication and multitasking abilities Knowledge of heavy haul transportation and logistics Familiarity with DOT regulations and oversize permits Experience using dispatch, GPS, or transportation management software Problem-solving and time management skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED required Experience in transportation, trucking, logistics, or construction preferred Heavy haul or oversized load dispatch experience is a plus Knowledge of construction or industrial equipment helpful
