USNH Employees should apply within Workday through the Jobs Hub app Keene State College's Department of Campus Safety is seeking reliable candidates to serve as part-time dispatchers in the Campus Safety communications center. The communication center operates 24 hours, seven days a week, and is staffed through various shift assignments to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays. The Department is actively seeking candidates who will be able to work third shift only. The hours will either be 11:00pm-7:00am or 9:00pm-7:00am. These shifts will likely include at least one weekend day each week. These Dispatcher positions are part-time, non-benefited. Dispatchers perform a valuable service for the College by serving as the primary point of contact and preferred communication resource when addressing campus incidents. This position may be an excellent opportunity for someone who is considering a position in public safety and seeks to gain insight and experience in the field, and/or someone who enjoys working and interacting with the public. The dispatcher will be expected to maintain a calm and professional demeanor in the event of an emergency and will be expected to contact police, fire, ambulance, or other emergency personnel when needed. The dispatcher will be required to utilize access control technologies to secure College buildings, provide emergency notification using emergency broadcast technologies during emergencies, review CCTV, and answer radio calls from Officers. This position is not a designated emergency (911) call center; however, the dispatcher may be the first point of contact with the public during the event of an emergency.Responsibilities include the following:
answer in-person questions at the dispatch window, telephone, switchboard, and electronic inquiries or requests for services; issue temporary parking permits, issue replacement OWL identification cards, monitor access control, alarm, and closed-circuit television monitoring equipment; and dispatch Campus Safety officers in the field via radio transmissions. Dispatchers also enter calls for service into the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and utilize the College's student and employee database. Duties/Responsibilities- Answer in-person, telephone, switchboard, and electronic inquiries or requests for services. Answer radio calls from officers in the field. Enter calls for service in the CAD system and utilize the college's student and employee database. Use the telephone to contact emergency services, Community Directors, and other campus partners. Answer calls received on blue light emergency phones. (65%)
- Monitor access control, alarm, and closed-circuit television monitoring equipment. Review CCTV to assist officers on patrol. Issue replacement OWL Card identification. Maintain accountability of officers on calls. (30%)
- Answer questions related to parking and events that are occurring on campus.
Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:
- Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of hiring.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Proven interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Computer proficient with the ability to learn various computer applications.
- Effective multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to interact verbally and electronically via the telephone, email, and two-way radio.
- Ability to assess situations and determine the appropriate response.
- Must successfully pass a background review, including criminal history and driving history.
Required Licenses & Certifications:
- Valid driver's license.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Acceptable typing skills - approximately 40 words per minute.
- Microsoft Office products, including but not limited to Excel, Word, and Point.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior dispatching experience is helpful but not required.
- Experience in customer service or the security field is helpful but not required.
- Higher Education experience.
