Job Description

ABOUT THIS ROLE
When someone dials 9-1-1, they need a calm, skilled professional on the other end — someone who can think clearly under pressure, gather critical information fast, and get the right help moving immediately. That person is you. MACC Base is a regional Emergency Communications Center serving 15 agencies across 5 communities in the greater Milford area. As a full-time Dispatcher, you'll be the critical link between the public and the emergency services personnel who protect our communities every day. It's a career that carries real responsibility — and real meaning You will report to the Dispatcher Supervisor and Director, and work within a collaborative team that takes pride in its professionalism, precision, and service to the public.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Receive and respond to emergency and non-emergency calls by telephone, radio, and other communication channels — providing timely, accurate, and composed assistance to the public and first responders. Dispatch and coordinate police, fire, and EMS personnel and equipment, managing multiple incidents across several communities simultaneously. Maintain expert knowledge of local streets, landmarks, buildings, businesses, and hazardous materials locations to support accurate and rapid deployment decisions. Monitor the safety and wellbeing of public safety personnel on duty across all dispatch communities in real time. Operate Communications Center equipment including CAD systems, multi-channel radio consoles, telephone systems, alarm monitoring units, and related technology. Accurately maintain daily logs, records, and forms in accordance with operational policies, and uphold the security and confidentiality of all communications center information. Work both independently and as a member of a team during incidents — collaborating across departments, agencies, and community organizations as needed. Maintain accurate and current records for local businesses including contact information, addresses, and alarm data.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
High school diploma or G.E.D. (minimum) Strong multitasking ability — you will be trusted to manage multiple active calls, radio channels, and computer systems without losing focus. Excellent communication skills — speak clearly, listen actively, and can interpret complex information quickly in high-pressure situations. Comfortable with computers and technology — keyboarding skills and working knowledge of computer hardware and software are important parts of the job. Ability to discern and differentiate audio across radio frequencies and simultaneous telephone conversations. Willingness and ability to work shift work including nights, weekends, and holidays. Valid driver's license required. Must be able to reliably commute to Milford, NH 03055. Ability to pass a pre-employment background check, including including an indepth criminal and motor vehicle record review. Must meet and maintain SPOTS qualifications and complete state certification. Previous experience in public safety dispatching, emergency communications, clerical, records management, or public-facing roles is a plus — but not required.
