USESI is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic yard jockey to join our Distribution Team. This position will be located in our Cranbury, NJ location.
Key Responsibilities Route Planning and Scheduling:
Develop and optimize transportation routes using route-planning software to minimize travel time, fuel costs, and operational expenses. Coordination with
Drivers and Transportation Manager:
Communicate with drivers, dispatchers, and Transportation Manager to confirm routes, adjust, and solve any issues that arise during transit.
Real-Time Problem Solving:
Monitor active routes and respond to delays, traffic issues, or unexpected changes, adjusting as needed to maintain schedules.
Compliance and Safety Monitoring:
Ensure all routes comply with local, state, and federal regulations regarding transportation, driver safety, and hours of service.
Required Skills and Qualifications Knowledge of Route Optimization Software:
Proficiency in route-planning and fleet management software, such as Innovo, or similar tools. Attention to
Detail and Organizational Skills:
Strong attention to detail for scheduling, compliance, and tracking routes efficiently.
Problem-Solving and Decision-Making Skills:
Ability to think on your feet, especially under pressure, to manage delays or unforeseen obstacles.
Communication Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with drivers, managers, and customers.
Time Management:
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks to ensure efficient route management.
Education and Experience Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is generally required. A degree in logistics, transportation, or supply chain management is preferred.
Experience:
At least 1-2 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or dispatching is often preferred.
Certifications:
Certification in transportation logistics or fleet management is a plus. Working Conditions Transportation Routers typically work in an office setting with frequent communication with Loading , and Drivers. They may work irregular hours, especially if overseeing routes that operate overnight or over long distances. Reporting Structure Transportation Router will report to the Transportation Manager.
