Full Job Description Dispatcher Overtime Status:
Non
  • Exempt Braen Stone Industries, the leading supplier of construction materials including stone, sand, asphalt, septic materials, recycled materials and agricultural limestone, is currently seeking a day shift Dispatcher who is able to primarily work out of our Haledon location, with the ability to work out of all our locations (Haledon, Ringwood, Franklin, Sparta).
We are a safety minded company and expect the successful candidate to be as well. This position is hourly, non-exempt from overtime. Overtime is paid after 40 hours are worked each week. Hours of work will vary. Expectations/ Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: Answer emergency and non-emergency calls and document important information. Respond to any issues, discrepancies, and follow-up by coordinating with the appropriate team or manager. Operate and manage a multi-line telephone console system. Respond to queries related to products and/or deliveries. Act as a communication liaison and answer incoming phone calls from drivers on the road. Cultivate strong relationships with drivers and customers to reduce the stress that comes with last minute schedule changes. Prioritize and organize calls according to urgency. Enter orders into the dispatch queue/Create jobs in EIS. Maintain and update call logs, call records and other important documentation. Take orders from customers and create the job orders in the computer. Schedule additional haulers to cover daily needs. Help customers calculate how much material they need and determine which material they need. Inquire with the sales department regarding quotes for the material and quantity the customer has chosen. Ability to add new trucks into the system. Assist in reconciling customer accounts with Scale House Manager, when needed. In charge of calculating material and delivery cost. Forecast next day's deliveries and make sure the right amount of trucks are on site and stand readily with extra trucks in the event of emergency deliveries. Contact the Asphalt customers the day prior to the delivery to confirm the outgoing order. View the calendar to determine plant availability for the next day's orders.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Aptitudes:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proven experience as dispatcher or relevant experience. Outstanding organizational and multitasking abilities. Proficient in MS Office with proven experience in data entry. Ability to work well under pressure. Ability to schedule and follow through with callers. Ability to rapidly input information into a data entry system. Knowledge of products.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Hours of work for day shift are generally 5:30 am
  • 5:00pm subject to change Hours of work for night-shift are generally 6:00pm
  • 6:00am subject to change Exposure to high levels of noise to be expected Long periods of sitting, occasional walking Punctual attendance is required Position in subjected to seasonal layoffs
