Job Description

Dispatch Assistant:
Eastside Bulk is a family-owned, full-service construction and decorative grade dry materials provider. We primarily operate in the Northeast region of the U.S. from North Carolina to Massachusetts. We own and operate our own fleet of trucks.
Qualifications:
Candidate must be reliable and have excellent time management skills. The candidate must be a pro-active and self-motivated, team player who works well under pressure and has the ability to work without supervision. Candidates must be proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook. Excellent customer service skills are a must. Special Skills Ability to multitask and possess excellent organizational skills. Knowledge of local roadways and geography. Use of mapping and GPS programs Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, truck breakdowns). Assistant will be trained by the head dispatcher to learn all aspects including: The ability to provide clear directives to drivers to carry out their assigned routes. Field calls, emails, and texts from drivers to answer any questions that may have such as route questions, pick-up or delivery instructions, and/or in-transit issues that may arise. Ensure that drivers are given all the proper information to complete their dispatch, including customer phone number and any special delivery instructions. Ensure that customer service needs are achieved; deliveries are in a timely fashion and delivery instructions are followed. Handle customer complaints and provide appropriate solutions and/or alternatives. Develop efficient routes to ensure that deliveries are made in a timely fashion. Maintain contact with drivers to answer any questions they might have such as: route questions, delivery instructions or in-transit issues that may arise. Monitor road conditions, construction zones, and accidents to revise routes as needed, update customers if these conditions will cause a major delivery delay.
