Bertram, INC Linden, NJ Job Details Full-time $20 - $25 an hour 4 hours ago Benefits Dental insurance 401(k) Retirement plan Qualifications Filing Fleet management Dispatching Organizational skills Clerical experience Full Job Description Overview Join our dynamic transportation team as a Dispatch Assistant, where your energy and attention to detail will drive efficiency and support seamless logistics operations. In this vital role, you will assist with coordinating drivers, routes, schedules, customer communication and daily transportation operations. You will help ensure drivers receive accurate load information, paperwork is completed properly and deliveries or pick ups or completed in a timely manner. Duties Assist dispatchers with assigning and tracking drivers, vehicles, and loads. Communicate with drivers by phone, text, email, or dispatch software. Provide drivers with pickup and delivery details, addresses, appointment times, and special instructions. Monitor driver locations, route progress, delays, breakdowns, or schedule changes. Update customers, brokers, or internal staff on load status when needed. Collect, review, and organize paperwork such as bills of lading, PODs, rate confirmations, receipts, and driver logs. Assist with scheduling pickups, deliveries, maintenance, and driver check-ins. Report issues such as late deliveries, vehicle problems, customer complaints, or route changes to the dispatcher or manager. Maintain accurate records of calls, driver updates, load status, and completed deliveries. Support general office tasks including filing, scanning, emailing, and data entry. Follow company policies, safety procedures, and DOT-related requirements when applicable. Skills Proficiency with transportation management systems Strong analysis skills for reviewing logistics data, freight movements, and supply chain performance metrics Experience with GPS devices, GIS mapping tools, and routing software for transportation planning Excellent communication skills for coordinating dispatching activities and maintaining clear records Ability to perform data entry accurately Familiarity with shipping & receiving procedures, freight documentation, and fleet management practices Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism on multi-line phones Ability to multitaks and work in a fast-paced environment This role is ideal for candidates eager to grow their expertise in transportation planning, logistics analysis, and supply chain operations.
