  • $65,000 Annually The Dispatch Supervisor oversees daily transportation operations by coordinating routes, monitoring real-time movements, and supporting drivers.
They ensure the smooth, timely, and safe transportation of passengers, assist with route planning, and act as the first point of contact for any issues or emergencies. The Dispatch Supervisor will also handle administrative tasks and collaborate with different teams within the company.
Dispatch Operations:
Communicate with drivers to ensure timely route assignments, on-time performance, and adherence to schedules. Respond to real-time issues, including delays, breakdowns, accidents, or weather conditions, and take corrective actions. Maintain clear, continuous communication with internal & external entities regarding delays, route changes, or emergencies. Monitor fleet movement through GPS tracking systems and other tools to ensure drivers are following designated routes and safety protocols.
Route Management:
Assist in the planning, optimization, and adjustment of routes based on passenger needs, traffic conditions, or other factors. Reassign routes or drivers when necessary to cover absences or unexpected changes. Review and adjust routes during the day to improve efficiency or address any safety concerns.
Driver Support:
Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers to answer questions, provide instructions, and resolve concerns. Ensure drivers are up-to-date on policies, procedures, safety protocols, and route changes.
Emergency Response:
Coordinate emergency protocols in the event of accidents, breakdowns, or other incidents, ensuring the safety of passengers and staff. Maintain contact with local authorities and emergency services when required.
Customer Service:
Address inquiries and complaints from staff, passengers, and the community in a professional and timely manner. Provide regular communication and updates regarding any significant operational changes or emergencies.
Administrative Tasks:
Maintain accurate records of routes, schedules, driver assignments, and vehicle maintenance logs. Compile reports related to performance metrics, delays, incidents, or other relevant transportation data. Assist in scheduling driver shifts and managing time-off requests.
Technology Utilization:
Operate and troubleshoot dispatch software, tracking systems, and other technological tools used in fleet management.
Qualifications:
Geographical Knowledge of the Five (5) Boroughs, Required. Will Be Tested. High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in transportation management or logistics preferred. 2+ years of experience in a transportation or logistics role, preferably within a bus or public transportation environment. At least 3 years of experience in transportation dispatch and in-depth understanding of creating routes/schedules for transportation. 2 + years of Supervisory/Management Experience
REQUIRED!
Familiarity with dispatching, route planning, and GPS tracking software. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure. Knowledge of local, state, and federal transportation laws and regulations, particularly those related to AAR, preferred. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, early mornings, late evenings, as needed. Subject to Pre-Employment and Random DOT drug testing and physical. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
