General Summary:
This employee performs a variety of skills in support of the NCEMS Communications Center; receives and dispatches emergency and non-emergency calls from the public EMS Personnel; participates in the work of a dispatcher/call taker and performs other duties as assigned. Assist with mental health transports, as needed.
Essential Functions:
Demonstrates a customer focused attitude to serve clients of diverse backgrounds at all times. Responsible for taking inbound calls, assessing and prioritizing the situation, and assigning and coordinating appropriate internal and external resources. Manages both emergency and non-emergency calls using a high level of critical thinking and multi-tasking skills. Completes required documentation needed to schedule ambulance and ambulette transfers. Documents in the CAD system when required. Assigns appropriate level of care of transportation based on the patient/client criteria. Maintains patient confidentiality as per the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). Maintains critical working relationships with community resources including Police, Fire, Life Flight, Hazmat, and internally with the North Central EMS team.
