Job Description

Dispatch Coordinator - Trainee (Tech & AI-Forward) Store & Haul, Inc. — Van Wert, OH (On-site; one work-from-home day per week once trained) $22.00-$30.00 per hour, based on experience
  • Full-time
  • Hourly
  • Overtime eligible Reports to the Dispatch Manager
  • Joining a three-person Dispatch Team We'll teach you dispatch.
You bring the curiosity. Most dispatch jobs ask for years of experience. We don't. Store & Haul runs a custom-built, technology- and AI-forward dispatch operation, and we've learned we'd rather train a sharp, fast learner the right way than hire someone set in old habits. If you pick up new software quickly, sweat the details, stay calm when things move fast, and like solving problems, we'll teach you everything about the trucking side. About Store & Haul Store & Haul is a second-generation, family-owned food-grade bulk liquid transportation and tank-wash company based in Van Wert, OH. Since 1991 we've grown from a small regional carrier into a trusted logistics partner for major food manufacturers, hauling food-grade bulk liquids across the Midwest and East. We run a fleet of tractors and stainless steel tankers with our own wash bays and depot facilities, and we're known for a serious commitment to safety, quality, and compliance. About the role You'll join our three-person Dispatch Team, reporting to the Dispatch Manager, who will train and mentor you from day one. Over time you'll be cross-trained on both sides of dispatch — building and running the schedule and managing drivers day to day — coordinating local, regional, and OTR drivers running primarily through Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Missouri, and Illinois. We'll teach you the trucking, the DOT/hours-of-service rules, and our systems. You bring the aptitude and the willingness to learn. What you'll learn to do (with full training) Build and manage the daily/weekly load board across local, regional, and OTR lanes; match drivers and equipment to loads based on location, hours-of-service, equipment type, and delivery windows Confirm pickup and delivery appointments with customers, shippers, and receivers Adjust schedules in real time for delays, breakdowns, weather, wash-bay timing, and last-minute orders Act as a first point of contact for drivers on routes, paperwork, and issues Monitor hours-of-service / ELD compliance (we run Samsara) so every assignment keeps drivers legal Coordinate with maintenance and the wash bay on equipment and tanker availability Keep dispatch records accurate and hand clean paperwork (BOLs, PODs) to billing What we're looking for (no dispatch experience required) A fast learner who genuinely enjoys figuring things out Tech-savvy and comfortable picking up new software quickly — we use a custom dispatch system, Samsara, Google Sheets, and AI tools, and we're always adding more Strong attention to detail (it matters for compliance and clean paperwork) A calm, clear communicator who can juggle competing priorities under pressure Organized and dependable, with solid geographic and number sense Excited to grow into a full Dispatch Coordinator Nice to have, but not required: any background in logistics, customer service, operations, or another fast-paced, deadline-driven environment; comfort with spreadsheets; any exposure to trucking or transportation. Requirements Reliably commutable to Van Wert, OH (or willing to relocate) Able and willing to be on call outside of normal business hours Dependable, coachable, and eager to learn Schedule & on-call Full-time, averaging about 45 hours per week, with overtime paid for all hours over 40. The role requires being on call outside of normal business hours to handle driver and load issues as they come up. Pay & benefits $22.00-$30.00 per hour, based on experience (overtime eligible) Health insurance 401(k) with a 4% company match — 100% vested on day one Paid time off and paid vacation Company-paid life insurance policy Work from home one day per week once fully trained Real training and mentorship, hands-on experience with a modern tech/AI-forward operation, and a clear path to grow into a full
