The Police Communications Dispatcher receives, dispatches, and monitors emergency (911) and non-emergency calls for police and other city services. This is a regular, full-time, non-exempt position with benefits. The position is scheduled to work various shifts and hours. The Chandler Police Communications Unit is open 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. These positions are required to work various schedules to include days, swing-shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays.

We are planning to hold oral interviews for this position during the week of May 4th, 2026.

We are currently offering a Dispatcher Hiring Incentive of $2,000 paid in two installments. New hires will receive $1,000 paid on their first paycheck; and will receive $1,000 paid upon successful completion of the probationary period. Essential Functions Answers emergency and non-emergency calls, enters information into CAD and dispatches calls within the required time frames.

Process information quickly and accurately while working in a high stress and unpredictable environment. Dispatches and relays information to police field personnel through the radio system and computer aided dispatch terminals. Monitors and maintains up to date status and location information of police field personnel.

Utilizes multiple software programs and enters information into appropriate systems.

Transfers callers to the appropriate internal/external departments.

Monitors and relays information to officers, public safety personnel and other agencies. through the use of City traffic cameras, various 911 assistance tools, multi-agency report databases, etc.

Provides emotional support to callers. Provides training to new employees as required.

To view the complete job description, please click here. Minimum qualifications A High School Diploma or GED Two years of experience in a high-volume data entry and customer service environmentAbility to type accurately at 40 wpm with no more than a 10% error rate.

Must obtain and maintain Arizona DPS Terminal Operator Certification Level A within six (6) months of hire; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Desired qualifications Experience in the operation of telecommunication equipment, computers, or radios preferably in a public safety environment.

Experience and/or training in police dispatch or related field.
