July 08, 2026 The Cy-Fair Fire Department is seeking highly motivated and professional individuals to serve as 911 Emergency Dispatchers within the Communications Division. This position plays a critical role in supporting emergency operations by receiving, prioritizing, and dispatching emergency and non-emergency calls for service while providing exceptional customer service to the public and operational support to fire and EMS personnel. Reporting to the Dispatch Supervisor, the 911 Emergency Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating emergency communications, monitoring radio traffic, maintaining situational awareness of active incidents, and ensuring timely and accurate deployment of emergency resources. 12-hour shift assignments, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency staffing situations. Personnel must be available to work alternate schedules as operational needs require. Annual Leave:

Medical Currently through Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO HSA $5,000: The Department covers 100% of the employee premium and 90% of the family. The department makes a quarterly contribution towards the HSA account. Dental and Vision Currently through Guardian The Department covers 90% of the employee premium and 70% for family. Short- and Long-Term Disability Currently through Guardian The Department pays 100% of the premium. Life Insurance- $50,000 policy The Department pays 100% of the premium. Supplemental Insurance:
The Department partners with Aflac for supplemental insurance. This is available for purchase by the employee. Additional Life insurance is available for purchase by the employee. Key Responsibilities:
Receive, prioritize, and process emergency and non-emergency calls for service. Dispatch fire, EMS, and related emergency resources using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems. Operate multi-frequency radio communications systems and maintain continuous monitoring of emergency radio traffic. Coordinate communications between field personnel, incident commanders, hospitals, public safety agencies, utilities, and other partner organizations. Monitor unit status and resource availability to ensure efficient emergency response coverage. Maintain accurate and complete records of dispatch activities, incident information, and unit assignments. Provide calm, professional, and compassionate assistance to callers during emergency situations. Monitor tactical channels and process requests from on-scene personnel and command staff. Maintain communications center equipment, supplies, and operational readiness. Complete required Greater Harris County 911 training and maintain all required certifications. Assist in preparing reports, documentation, and administrative records as required. Maintain a secure, professional, and efficient communications center environment. Support departmental goals through teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications:
Minimum 18 years of age. High school diploma or equivalent. Preference given to candidates with at least one (1) year of public safety experience. Valid Texas Driver's License with an acceptable driving record. Current American Heart Association CPR Certification or ability to obtain within thirty (30) days of hire. Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) and Emergency Fire Dispatcher (EFD) certifications through the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED), or ability to obtain during the probationary period. Completion of NIMS ICS-100, 200, 700, and 800, or ability to obtain during the probationary period. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Work is performed primarily within a secure communications center. Approximately 90% of work is performed in a seated position utilizing computer and communications equipment. Must be capable of working extended shifts while continuously monitoring multiple information sources. Must be able to wear a communications headset for extended periods. Requires the ability to hear, speak, read, and process information accurately and efficiently. Must maintain the physical and mental fitness necessary to perform assigned duties. Be responsible for maintaining a professional work environment in the Communications Center. This includes restriction of unnecessary personnel from the Communications Center. Maintain Communications equipment and supplies Assist in preparing records and reports Maintain excellent working relationships with employees, volunteers, outside agencies.
