We are looking for a Night and Mid-Day Shift EMT Dispatcher.
Schedule is:
7 ON/7 OFF (12 hours) The EMT Dispatcher position is a skilled service work that involves receiving/processing emergency and non-emergency requests for ambulance transportation, determining nature/urgency of calls, initiating appropriate personnel response or other emergency personnel action and maintaining close contact with field personnel to monitor response and needed support requirements. It requires a considerable degree of initiative and independent judgment within procedural boundaries in responding to a variety of medical situations Duties and Responsibilities
- Receive, process, and disseminate calls for from hospitals, care providers, nursing facilities service in an efficient manner to attain an appropriate and timely response.
- Schedule ambulance transports using a computer aided dispatch system.
- Prioritize calls according to urgency and importance
- Monitor radio communications for updates to vehicle status and use proper radio etiquette.
- Utilization of dispatch software, maps and tracking systems to dispatch appropriate vehicles and provide directions.
- Independently initiate action consistent with existing policies and procedures, based upon observed situations, and utilizing sound judgment.
- Analyze and interpret difficult and complex patient care and personnel situations.
- Anticipate and identify problems and take initiative to prevent or correct them;
- Create and maintain a positive and cooperative working environment in stressful situations.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel within the medical community, the Company, outside agencies, patients, and members of the community.
- Handle a significant number of stressful situations, and be able to function calmly, coolly and collectedly under all types of stressful situations.
Requirements An Active NREMT and a valid Texas EMT-B/A License (required) High School Diploma or GED from a U.S. accredited school Proficient in correspondence, reports and assist in the processing of documents as required Demonstrated proficiency with computer and related software, i.e. Word and Excel Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to answer telephone calls, resolve issues, provide information, and multitask Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information in a discreet manner Available to work overtime and/or varying duty hours as deemed necessary; including weekends, holidays with an excellent attendance record Ability to sit for long periods of time. Experience in an ambulance/dispatching call center preferred Minimum typing speed 40 wpm Proficient in English Critical thinking skills and decisive judgement within a group setting are imperative.
