Job Description

Job Summary:
The City of Stephenville Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Full-Time 9-1-1 Operator/Public Safety Dispatcher.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Receive and respond to emergency and non-emergency telephone calls. Process and evaluate information, dispatch law enforcement and/or fire/EMS, consider call priority, availability, and the number and types of personnel needed. Maintain and validate data in local, state, and national computer databases. Prepare and maintain accurate records of information in a computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system. Perform administrative duties as needed or requested.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Applicants must complete a background investigation, interviews, drug screening, and polygraph. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. Applicants must be available to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as they are scheduled.
Education and Experience:
Must be authorized to work in the United States Must have a High school diploma or equivalent Must have a valid Texas driver's license, and currently have and maintain a satisfactory driving record
Recommended Licenses and Certifications:
TCOLE Basic Tele-Communicator License TLETS Certifications Physical Requirements:
Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity equipment, such as a computer, copy machine, and computer printer. Commonly communicates with people via phone, radio, email, and face to face. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
Work Environment:
The majority of work is performed in an office setting and may be subject to ordinary risks typically found in an office environment. The dispatch center operates 24/7 year round. Successful applicants maybe assigned to any shift to include nights, weekends, holidays and during inclement weather.
