Duties Help You will communice via radio with responding personnel to pass pertinent informion regarding hazards th may be present the emergency scene and obtain additional assets if requested by the Incident Commander. You will verify the locion and call back number for a medical pient and determines the severity of the emergency situion using EMD checklists. You will utilize computer dabase to access and secure security areas, recall logged events, track and relay informion on special operions, and maintain alarm locion diagrams. You will maintain logs, forms and stus of security and fire personnel on duty and available using the CAD system. Requirements Help Conditions of employment Must be a US Citizen. You required to ensure organizion or facility continuity of operions and/or completion of tasks th are considered essential to the mission designed by a local or command decision. Must be certified in accordance with nional standards and established protocols to perform Emergency Medical Dispcher (EMD) services to callers with medical emergencies. Retention in this position is contingent upon the successful completion and passing and maintaining of all agency training requirements which include, but not limited to the following. Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining certificion as a Telecommunicor I. Employee has 90 days from their entrance on duty to obtain certificion. Must be capable of obtaining certificion for "Hazardous Merial Awareness". Employee has 90 days from their entrance on duty to obtain certificion. Must be capable of obtaining a Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscition (CPR) certificion and maintain the certificion by recertifying every 2 years. Employee has 90 days from their entrance on duty to obtain certificion. Must be capable of obtaining an Associion of Public-Safety Communicions Officials (APCO) or Internional Academies of Emergency Dispch Emergency Medical Dispcher (IAED EMD) certificion. Maintain the certificion by recertifying every 2 years. Employee has 270 days from their entrance on duty to obtain certificion. As required, required to complete training and certify as a communicions training officer (CTO) to provide on-the-job training to new hire personnel. This position is subject to recall 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Duty hours are subject to change and shift work is required in order to provide 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days per year coverage. The potential to work up to 16 hours a time does exists due to unscheduled absences and/or extreme circumstances such as nural disasters, terrorist tacks, and other all hazardous emergency or disaster situions. The employee may be subject to verbal abuse during telephone conversions with members of the general public. The work is mainly sedentary. Walking, standing and stooping, reaching and handling/grasping documents may occur in performing duties of the position. Incumbent must have color vision adeque to distinguish between green, red and yellow lights on alarm and equipment control panels and read informion from a multi-colored computer screen. Incumbent must be able to write and speak English clearly and distinctly so th they are easily understood over the telephone and radio and documention is easily readable. Incumbent must be able to clearly hear conversions over the phone and radio regardless of the age or sex of the caller and to distinguish between different audible alarm tones used in dispch. Incumbent may use hearing correction devices to augment their nural hearing in order to meet the requirements listed. Although the physical activity of this job is th of an office environment, the emergency nure of the work, the rigid time constraints for response actions, the emotional ste of the persons calling for service, and the nure and consequences of the decisions the incumbent is required to make, cegorize this position as one of high mental and emotional stress.WORK ENVIRONMENT
