Full Job Description Core Responsibilities Clinical Oversight & Quality :
Strive to ensure all care follows established protocols and evidence-based practice bundles to eliminate preventable harm and promote excellent outcomes.
Operational Management :
I'll maintain 24-hour accountability for planning and evaluating department clinical functions, including the coordination of all scheduled and emergent transport requests.
Team Leadership & Development :
Will be responsible for recruiting, orienting, and mentoring transport clinicians, ensuring they maintain required high-acuity competencies and certifications.
Safety & Compliance :
I'll enforce adherence to State Board of Nursing requirements and federal, state, and local regulations while ensuring a safe working environment for staff and patients.
Stakeholder Liaison :
I will act as the primary contact between the transport team, medical Director, and administrative leadership.
Detailed Task List Personnel & Staffing Scheduling :
Create and manage work schedules to ensure full coverage of transport needs at all times.
Performance Management :
Conduct regular performance appraisals, offer coaching and counseling, and carry out disciplinary actions when necessary.
Recruitment :
Interview and select new nursing staff and auxiliary personnel based on specialized transport requirements.
Clinical Operations & Quality Protocol Development :
Assist in creating and updating nursing guidelines, policies, and procedures reflective of best practices in critical care transport.
Quality Auditing :
Perform regular audits and review incident reports to identify areas for process improvement.
Competency Validation :
Oversee nurse competency evaluations and specialized training for advanced procedures like intubation or ECMO management, Ventilators and vasoactive medication titration, controlled substance procedures and transport specific training.
Resource & Budget Management Supply Chain :
Monitor and order medical supplies and equipment, ensuring the Rigs are ready.
Financial Planning :
Develop and manage the department's budget, including justifying clinical expenses and identifying cost-saving initiatives.
Equipment Maintenance :
Ensure all life-support and specialty medical equipment is properly operated and maintained in working order.
Direct Support & Patient Advocacy Administrative Call :
Participate in a rotating administrative call schedule to provide leadership support during off-hours.
Conflict Resolution :
Investigate and resolve patient or family concerns and manage interpersonal conflicts within the interdisciplinary team.
Clinical Backup :
Function as a clinical resource and provide direct nursing care or triage during high-volume shifts or crisis situations.
