Job Description

Cook County Offices Under The President Administrative Hearings Auditor Bureau of Administration Bureau of Economic Development Bureau of Finance Bureau of Human Resources Bureau of Technology Facilities Office of the President Job Summary Supervise and assist staff in their efforts to advise local municipalities about Bureau/Department initiatives. Act as the chief of planning. Provide the department/Bureau with the ability to fulfill its federal grant requirements. Fulfil mission to develop, test, promulgate, and maintain all plans that prepare for, prevent, respond to, and recover from all forms of natural disasters and homeland security threats within the County or involving County assets. This position is Actively Recruited and At Will. Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree or higher is required.
  • Five (5) years of emergency management, law enforcement, fire services, coordinating assets, or directly related experience is required.
  • Three (3) years of prior supervisory experience is required.

Candidates will be notified of how to submit required documents.
  • Degrees awarded outside of the United States with the exception of those awarded in one of the United States territories and Canada, must be credentialed by the World Education Services (WES), Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) or a National Association of Credential Evaluation (NACES) member organization. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Skill in developing and implementing long-term contingency planning in dynamic environments; including emergency management, first responder or military operations and skill in the execution of operational plans, under rapidly evolving, emergency situations.
  • Knowledge of the planning process for both long-term planning and rapid planning under emergency conditions.
  • Skill in the development and execution of tabletop exercises and full-scale exercises for large scale deployment of personnel and equipment for pre-planned and contingency events.
  • Ability to supervise and lead personnel, while operating under dynamic and rapidly folding emergency conditions and ability to conduct presentations to senior leadership, as well as coordinate with counterparts from outside agencies in the development and execution of plans.
  • Ability to manage professional and/or skilled support staff on a day-to-day basis.
  • Ability to lead within the established objectives and make decisions regarding daily priorities and the application of technical/business processes for a work group or segment of a department.
