Job Description

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma ID j-15940 Job Type Full Time Remote Type On-Site Job Summary Emergency Management Planners are within the Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) Vertical and report directly to a Project or Program Manager. This position is primarily a technical writer and editor for a diverse range of emergency management related planning documents but may occasionally be called upon in a client facing role to facilitate planning meetings and conduct site visits. Examples of the types of plans that this position will serve as a lead technical writer or editor on include but are not limited to: Hazard Mitigation Plans (HMP), Comprehensive Emergency Management Plans (CEMP), Emergency Operations Plans (EOP) and Community Wildfire Protection Plans (CWPP).

Full Time Travel:
Up to 25%, Occasional overnight travel may be required Duties/Responsibilities Serve as technical writer/editor for a variety of emergency management plan types. Coordinate with other emergency management professionals to complete tasks. Coordinate with external stakeholders in the production and approval of emergency management plans, which may include conducting public outreach as required and presenting materials. Prepare presentations and supporting materials for public meetings and workshops. Review and study emergency management technical standards, guidelines, and regulations to remain abreast of industry trends. As available with project workload, assist Business Development (BD) Group in expanding the firm's emergency management and homeland security portfolio by supporting the Bids and Proposals (B&P) Team as an emergency management Subject Matter Expert (SME). Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies, as well as Tribes, and the public in supporting clients to meet compliance requirements. As required, facilitate monthly virtual meetings on project progress including preparing agendas and compiling meeting minutes for project files. Maintain productive and mutually beneficial working relationships with clients and partners and promote new business development efforts emphasizing emergency management projects and related work. Required Skills/Abilities Ability to remain abreast of changes in federal, state, and local emergency management laws and regulations. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and similar software. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to review, edit, and finalize a variety of technical documents for clarity and consistency and to proofread and correct errors based on client-approved style guides. Ability to simultaneously review and edit multiple documents at varying stages of the document writing process. Strict adherence to client deadlines
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in emergency management, or related field.
Preferred:
Five (5) or more years of full time professional experience as an emergency management practitioner
Preferred:
Qualification as a Master Exercise Practitioner (MEP) or Certified Emergency Manager (CEM), or ability to obtain in future.
