  • Family Medicine Physical Location of Position (City) Sioux Falls Posting Text The USD Sanford School of Medicine is seeking physician applications for a Pillar 3 Emergency Medicine Director.
The position is responsible for leadership, organization, evaluation, and daily operations of Pillar 3 within Emergency Medicine. The position may require some travel to other campuses.
Required Qualifications:
1. MD/DO 2. Faculty appointment (or eligibility) at the Sanford School of Medicine 3. Completion of an accredited Emergency Medicine residency 4. Current (or eligible) Emergency Medicine board certification
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide an annual written report to the Department Chair 2. Complete an annual self-evaluation form 3. Regularly attend Department of Emergency Medicine faculty meetings 4. Attend monthly clerkship director meetings 5. Participate in department and School of Medicine committees as needed 6. Participate in student residency advising as needed 7. Recruit and support emergency medicine physician preceptors 8. Review and update the clerkship curriculum and syllabus 9. Participate in grading clerkship papers and case presentations 10. Update clerkship manual on an annual basis 11. Evaluate clerkship sites annually and expand sites as needed 12. Review and provide feedback on student evaluations of preceptors and locations 13. Address student and faculty concerns in collaboration with the Office of Medical Education This position reports to the Chair of Emergency Medicine. First review of applications will begin June 12, 2026, and continue until the position is filled. Must be authorized to work in the United States. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
