Job Description

Description The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) at a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) partners with the Director of Nursing (DON) to oversee clinical operations, manage staff, and ensure regulatory compliance. They typically supervise daily nursing care, drive quality improvement initiatives, and step in for the DON when absent.
Key Responsibilities Core Responsibilities Clinical Operations:
Ensure residents receive exceptional, physician-directed care by making daily rounds, reviewing records, and assisting with complex care plans.
Staff Management:
Interview, onboard, schedule, and evaluate nursing personnel. Lead training on new procedures and handle disciplinary actions as needed.
Compliance & Auditing:
Guarantee facility adherence to state, federal, and local healthcare regulations. Assist with state surveys, infection control protocols, and Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) projects.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
Act as a liaison between nursing staff, physicians, patients, and their families to resolve grievances and update care statuses.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Qualifications Licensure:
Must hold a current, active, and valid Alabama Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Experience:
Requires 2-3 years of long-term care or SNF experience. Previous management or supervisory experience is highly preferred.

Deep understanding of healthcare management, electronic medical records (EMR), and regulatory standards (e.g., OBRA, state-specific codes).
