Director of Operations & Lead Trainer (Board & Train Facility) Confidential Agoura Hills, CA Job Details Full-time $80,000 - $100,000 a year 3 days ago Qualifications Kennel experience Team development Animal care Recruiting Training & development Full Job Description About the Role We're launching a brand-new board and train facility and looking for a Director of Operations & Lead Trainer to help build and lead the entire operation from the ground up. This is a foundational leadership role where you'll be responsible for designing systems, shaping training programs, and building a team, all while overseeing daily operations. If you've ever wanted to help and create a best-in-class training facility from scratch, this is that opportunity. What You'll Do Facility Build-Out & Strategy Collaborate on facility layout, kennel design, and training flow Help establish efficient systems for intake, training, care, and client handoff Set standards for safety, cleanliness, and structure Training Program Development Design and implement board & train curriculums (obedience, behavior modification, etc.) Establish training standards and ensure consistency across all dogs Oversee dog progress and adjust programs as needed Operations & Systems Build and implement SOPs (standard operating procedures) Develop workflows for scheduling, intake, client communication, and reporting Oversee backend systems (CRM, invoicing, tracking, etc.) Team Hiring & Leadership Lead the hiring process for trainers and kennel staff Build, train, and manage a high-performing team Create a strong, accountable, and positive culture Ensure all staff adhere to training and care standards Day-to-Day Oversight Manage daily kennel operations and training schedules Ensure a clean, safe, and structured environment Maintain high standards of dog care and client experience Who You Are Experienced professional dog trainer (board & train experience strongly preferred) Proven leadership or management experience in a kennel or training environment Strong understanding of behavior modification + obedience training Highly organized and systems-oriented Confident leader who can manage both people and dogs effectively Entrepreneurial mindset excited to help build and scale a new operation Bonus Points Experience launching or scaling a training business Experience hiring and building teams from the ground up Strong network within the dog training community Why This Role Is Different Ground-floor opportunity to build and shape an entire facility Direct influence on systems, team, and growth strategy Leadership role with long-term growth potential Opportunity for future expanded leadership or partnership discussions
