Responsible for overall cleaning of University buildings (except for the Residence Halls) and limited areas in the Dining Services facilities. Responsible for management of pest contracts, recycling and environmental programs, solid waste programs and event set up support.Job Description:
Responsibilities:
1. Supervises First and Second Shift Zone Coordinators and/or Supervisory personnel who are responsible for supervising custodians who clean the buildings and/or including floor maintenance, restroom cleaning, dusting, window washing, etc.by:
Conducting training, orientation, and refresher programs for entire Custodial Staff. Managing sick time and vacations to maintain coverage in all buildings on campus. Processing time cards for department on a bi-weekly basis. Approving overtime (if applicable) Completing performance review of Zone Coordinators/Supervisory personnel and process with supervisor/employees to understand job performance expectations and how they fit into the department and university goals 2. Disposes of waste on campus by: Coordinating recycling on campus to include cardboard paper, glass, aluminum cans, newspapers, etc. Organizing collections of refuse after special events on campus. Supervising solid waste disposal campus-wide. 3. Notes and reports any building deficiencies. Responsible for checking lounges and restrooms frequently for cleaning. Check equipment and make any adjustments necessary. Report major repairs to appropriate departments. 4. Support Camps & Conferences, special event / student events set up as requested via work orders and/or instructions from the event manager. 5. Works directly with outside organizations by: Supervising contract exterminators and schedule fogging of various buildings. Supervising contract custodial services. Working with vendors to order and maintain all custodial supplies and equipment. Working with temporary labor services to support staffing needs Manage the maintenance of equipment Order and manage all Custodial supplies 6. Prepares, manages, generates and completes work orders, operating budget and reports and other accounts. 7. Works to accomplish Facilities Services objectives in support of University goals. 8. Works to foster good relations between custodial and other Facilities Services departments, administration, faculty and students. 9. Assesses custodial needs for new buildings. 10. Communicates openly. 11. Support Emergency response efforts 12. Completes any other duties as may be required by supervision. 13. Communicates and enforces University policies and safety procedures. 14. Pursues professional development to keep pace with demands for services and information; including maintaining up to date information about the department and university. 15. On call 24/7 and must be able to be contacted via cell phone. 16. Manages the uniform policy for the Custodial Department 17. Manages the work loading software to help predict needs based on planned and unplanned eventsRelationships:
Continuous contact with members of own department and immediate supervisor requiring planning, coordinating, problem solving, presenting information and suggestions related to mutual goals. Frequent contact with members of other departments, students, building occupants requiring exchange of factual information and explanation of rules, regulations, practices or functions. Occasional contact with public, government agencies, vendors and contractors requiring exchange of factual information and explanation of rules, regulations, practices or functions. Discussion of noncontroversial matters. Responsibility forFinal Decisions:
Direct supervision of 4 employees and indirect supervision of 36 employees Review work to ensure compliance with procedures and deadlines. Spends time planning, scheduling, and assigning priorities of several ongoing assignments. Tasks involve interpretation of data and/or procedures to address problems or situations that re not clearly defined. Work involves non-routine/diverse work not defined by procedures. Errors may be detected within the department or section in which they occur, but may affect the work of others within the unit to trace errors and make corrections.Reports To:
Director of Operation - Facilities Services. Work is performed independently except where the interpretation of law, policy, rule, complex procedure or request for exception is required.Education/Skill Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent via work experience. Knowledge of custodial cleaning, chemicals, procedures, etc. 7 -10 years of experience supervisory experience required.Work Conditions:
Work is performed in usual office conditions, all cleanable spaces and outdoors when special events and/or job duties dictate.Education Requirements:
