Job Title:
Director of Facilities Job Description The Director of Facilities is responsible for overseeing the Engineering & Maintenance department, focusing on excellent patient experience through facility maintenance, construction, and activation of hospitals and ambulatory clinics. This role includes strategic planning, managing personnel, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, while representing the department to high level leadership. Responsibilities Manage collaboration with Construction, Facility Planning, and other functions on activities related to the construction and activation of Hospitals/Ambulatory Clinics and Facilities. Act as primary Command Center representative in managing events with the E&M Chief(s) and other departments. Develop and implement policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services, ensuring compatibility with Medicine's function and goals. Direct the transition from preventive to predictive maintenance, including planning and developing the necessary technology. Develop, direct, and maintain standards for quality and continuous improvement programs. Create metrics to monitor trends in customer satisfaction, staff productivity, work volume, and regulatory compliance. Direct financial activities, including developing the annual operating budget and preparing variance reports. Maintain fluency with technology and operational advances, developing strong industry relationships. Strategic planning and oversight for staff training, education, workforce planning, and engagement. Plan and direct the division of skills needed in-house versus those required from vendors. Organize the administrative aspects of the department, ensuring performance-based service contracts are in place. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in a work-related field or relevant experience in lieu of degree. Five years of leadership experience in facilities engineering, with at least five years in a hospital or ambulatory clinic environment. Strong communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to develop long-range business plans and strategies. Capability to manage complex projects and resources. Proficiency in strategizing, planning, and implementing change. Understanding of financial and statistical activity reports. Knowledge of organization, administration, fiscal, and personnel management principles. Experience with operationalizing new construction and maintenance management applications. Knowledge of building automation systems, regulatory requirements, and building safety codes. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with incident command emergency response. Familiarity with Lean, JIT, or Six Sigma techniques. Ability to act as both a thought leader and operational expert around IT-driven process transformation. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is located at 500 Pasteur Drive, with a standard schedule of Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. The role may require on-call availability during non-standard hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to meet business needs and respond to emergencies as necessary Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Palo Alto, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $89.00 - $115.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
