About Tank Space Tank Space is a beverage production and co-packing services facility in Sacramento, open since 2020. Founded by the owner of Proof Cocktail Company and the owners of The Can Van mobile canning service, Tank Space provides customers with a unique and professional solution for blending and canning a variety of beverages. We specialize in ready to drink (RTD) cocktail manufacturing, wine hosting, formulation and carbonation services. With tanks ranging in size from 150 gallons to 5,000+ gallons, and multiple canning line options, we are equipped for everything from beta testing new cocktail blends, to large scale commercial wine production and select non-alcoholic beverage varieties. Job Description The Canning Line Supervisor will be responsible for the day to day packaging operations at Tank Space, as well as the ongoing and preventative maintenance of the canning line and automated packaging equipment. This job works in conjunction with the Warehouse Manager, Lab manager, canning crew, and Client Manager, and is overseen by the Owners. This position will work closely with and report directly to Lindsey, the CEO of the company. This person will oversee the efficient and sanitary workings of the CFT (the high speed canning line) and associated packaging equipment including depalletizer, conveyance, labeler, cartoner, tray former, and shrink wrapper. They are responsible for carrying out and overseeing the daily CIP, canning, quality control, daily logs and reports, and communication with the lab, production managers and canning crew. In addition to the operation of this equipment, this position is responsible for tracking and ensuring completion of repairs, troubleshooting, cleaning and preventative maintenance schedules for all packaging equipment. Thorough record keeping, adherence to SOPS, regulations and requirements, and the training and management of daily canning crews will be required. Responsibilities and Duties Packaging Operations Direct responsibility for all packaging equipment and canning runs. Ability to operate and oversee canning runs using the high speed canning line or the mobile canning line at Tank Space. Participate in production meetings to ensure you know the packaging plan, and can contribute expertise towards a shared goal of efficiency through working together and sharing information. Work with Warehouse for timing of the transfer of all bulk and finished goods between Tank Space and storage warehouse, "Outer Space". Oversee that canning activities are in line with client requirements, including date codes, packaging materials, pallet specs, etc. Train canning line operators and support staff. Communicate with crews and admin about daily schedules, oversee hours to minimize unnecessary overtime, ensure breaks, and optimize daily schedules. Ensure proper, safe and sanitary operation of the canning equipment. Follow SOPs, create or update SOPs as needed. Ensure packaging is compliant with relevant alcohol laws, quality control standards, HACCP and GMP protocols, allergen programs, CCOF processes, etc. Ensure completion of daily canning logs, relevant material tracking, job reports, etc. In conjunction with CEO and canning operators, ensure smooth operation of all packaging equipment, including CFT, labeler, depal, and packout cartoning equipment. Facility and Equipment Oversee packaging equipment cleanliness and cleaning schedules. Ensure proper sanitation practices and SOPs are followed and improved upon if and where needed. Communicate effectively with supervisors, clients, crew, temps and team members. Keep equipment and work space safe, clean, organized and tidy. Maintain inventory of required consumables including gasses, greases, solvents, etc. Track and maintain an organized spare parts inventory. Track Preventative Maintenance schedules for all packaging equipment and ensure tasks are completed on time. Communicate about any concerns, troubleshooting, repairs, improvements needed, etc. in a timely and effective manner.
Qualifications, Skills and Physical Requirements:
Experience working in a winery, brewery, distillery, or manufacturing environment Experience with canning or packaging equipment a plus Over 21 Analytical skills including math and real-world problem solving Decision making and prioritization skills Organized and good attention to detail Clear verbal and e-mail communication Clean and tidy work habits Proficient with computer technology, e-mail, word processing, phone communication apps and basic spreadsheets Good record keeping skills Professional manner and interpersonal communication skills Able to communicate with various personalities diplomatically and professionally Able to work in a fast paced, changing work environment Able to safely and responsibly handle harsh and dangerous chemicals Able to work independently under minimal supervision, with time-management skills Valid US Driver's license and clean driving record Reliable transportation to work site not easily accessible by public transportation Forklift driving (or willingness to be taught) Ability to lift 25 lbs repeatedly, occasionally lift 75lbs, and push or pull 150 lbs. Ability to be on your feet moving and active for an entire shift Additional physical requirements include standing, moving around, reaching, bending, high fiving, fist bumping, repetitive motion and being dirty, hot and sweaty in a light industrial environment. Hours, Compensation and Benefits $20-$28 per hour depending on applicants' experience. Holidays, paid vacation, Health Insurance. Standard workweek is Monday through Friday. Must be available to start as early as 6am. Hours will vary based on production schedule needs. Overtime is common, weekend hours are occasionally required.
