Job Description:
VG is looking for a hands-on Contract Facilities Manager to lead facilities operations across our Orange County (Flight & STC) sites and the Mojave campus. This manager will both execute and supervise facility at Headquarter, Testing and Hangar Operations level for maintenance support (painting, basic repairs, etc.) and own facility process improvement, SOPs, budgets, vendor management and safety/compliance. The role reports to the Director of Facilities and requires frequent travel between sites and occasional support in other VG facilities outside of California. 6-month contract position 80% OC locations 20% Mojave office Responsibilities Develop and strengthen relationships with the landlords for Orange County (Flight & STC) and Mojave for all service calls, required maintenance, and meetings Oversee day-to-day facilities operations at Orange County (Flight & STC) and
Mojave:
maintenance, repairs, preventative maintenance, grounds, utilities, shop/hangar readiness and facility safety. Perform and cover technician-level facility tasks as needed (painting, carpentry, mechanical/electrical troubleshooting, basic HVAC/plumbing support) to maintain operations and meet service levels. Develop, document, implement and maintain facility SOPs, maintenance schedules, work orders and checklists; ensure standardized execution across sites. Lead continuous improvement for facilities processes (5S, preventive maintenance optimization, spare parts management) to reduce downtime and costs. Help manage facility budgets, forecasts, capital requests, and cost-control measures; report on facility KPIs and drive corrective actions.
Manage contractors and vendors:
sourcing, bid evaluation, contracting, performance oversight and invoice validation. Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental and regulatory requirements applicable to campuses and hangars; conduct audits and manage corrective actions. Coordinate with Operations, Safety, EHS, Security, Supply Chain and Engineering on cross-functional facility needs, capacity planning and project execution. Plan and execute small-to-medium capital projects and renovations; manage timelines, budgets and contractors. Supervise and develop facilities technicians and contractors, conduct performance reviews and training. Maintain inventory of facility-critical spares and equipment, order and track materials. Provide regular facility status reports and recommendations to the Director of Facilities; participate in strategic planning for capacity and capital investments. Travel regularly between Tustin, Orange County sites and Mojave as required. Required Skills and Experience 5+ years facilities or maintenance management experience in industrial, manufacturing or technical campus environments; hands-on technician background strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to perform basic trades work (painting, carpentry, basic electrical/mechanical/HVAC/plumbing) and supervise technicians/contractors. Experience writing and implementing SOPs, preventive maintenance programs and work-order systems.
Financial acumen:
facilities budgeting, cost control, vendor negotiations and KPI management. Experience managing multiple sites and remote teams. Excellent leadership, communication and vendor-management skills. Proficient with maintenance management systems (CMMS), Limble preferred, but not required, MS Excel and scheduling tools. Valid driver's license; ability to travel frequently between sites. High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certificate, trades qualification or college degree in facilities management, engineering or related field preferred.
