Bison has operated in the DJ since 2015 and currently operates over 350,000 net acres, 900 wells, and ~50,000 BOE of production per day. Bison is a leading modern operator that strives to operate with the least possible impact on the environment and our surrounding communities. Bison is the largest private operator in the DJ Basin. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong leadership, sound judgment, and effective problem-solving, while building partnerships across Operations, Engineering, HSE, and external contractors. The ability to prioritize, make timely decisions, and drive continuous improvement is essential for balancing production goals, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. Summary The Director of Facilities provides leadership and oversight for the design, operation, and maintenance of the company's oil and gas production facilities. This role ensures facilities are operated efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulatory requirements while driving capital projects, maintenance programs, and continuous improvement initiatives that support production goals and long-term asset value. Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions- Provide strategic oversight for the design, construction, operation, and optimization of upstream and midstream oil and gas facilities, including well pads, gathering systems, production equipment, processing facilities, and associated infrastructure
- Lead and review facility design standards, layouts, and engineering deliverables to ensure safety, operability, scalability, and cost efficiency
- Partner with Operations, Engineering, Production, and HSE to align facility designs and modifications with field development plans and production objectives
- Maintain regular field presence to assess facility performance, identify operational risks, and prioritize maintenance, reliability, and improvement initiatives
- Oversee execution of facility capital projects and major modifications, including scope development, budgeting, scheduling, contractor management, and commissioning
- Ensure facilities comply with applicable regulatory, environmental, and safety requirements; serve as a key point of contact during inspections, audits, and agency interactions
- Provide leadership and direction for instrumentation, electrical, construction, and maintenance functions to ensure reliable operation of critical equipment and systems
- Establish and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs to minimize downtime, extend asset life, and improve reliability
- Lead or support incident investigations, root cause analyses, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions
- Evaluate and implement new technologies, automation, and process improvements to enhance operational efficiency, data visibility, and cost control
- Manage facilities-related operating and capital budgets, identifying opportunities for cost optimization without compromising safety or reliability
- Develop, mentor, and hold accountable facilities and maintenance leadership to foster a culture of safety, ownership, and continuous improvement
- Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices to ensure facilities strategy supports long-term asset value
- Manage and oversee the implementation and operation of the SCADA system for all facility capital projects Education & Experience (required)
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in facilities, maintenance, construction, or operations within upstream oil and gas.
- Proven experience overseeing design, construction, and operation of production facilities, equipment, and infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of production processes, facility systems, instrumentation, electrical, and I&E standards.
- Core knowledge of artificial lift systems including the design and implementation of gas lift, jet pump, rod pump, and ESP.
- Expertise in Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), cause-and-effect diagrams, and system controls/automation.
- Knowledge of process safety design, including PSV sizing and equipment sizing.
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams, managing contractors, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. Education & Experience (preferred)
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in facilities, maintenance, construction, or operations within upstream oil and gas.
- Experience with engineering design and project management software such as Bluebeam, ProMax, or similar tools.
- Prior experience in consulting engineering or leading multi-discipline engineering teams on complex facility projects. Other Requirements

- Ability to legally work in the US without sponsorship Additional Information Compensation Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $155,200 - $257,200 annually in this location.
