Director of Athletics About Hopkins School Hopkins School is a 365-year old co-ed independent school for 720 students in grades 7-12 located on a 108-acre campus in New Haven, CT. The School's facilities include 25 academic and operational buildings (265,000 sq ft of space under roof), numerous athletic fields and courts, and three parking lots. Position Description Hopkins School seeks a self-motivated and experienced Athletic Facilities Associate (AFA) to support the regular upkeep of athletic facilities and grounds and equip them appropriately for each successive season and game.Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Athletic Facilities Associate plays a vital role in ensuring Hopkins' athletic fields, event spaces, and buildings are safe, functional, and prepared for school athletic programs. This position requires a hands-on, collaborative individual with strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a dynamic and physically active environment. Requirements The Athletics Facilities Associate must be a team player who possesses good communication skills (including the use of walkie-talkie) and a willingness to learn new skills and techniques as needed. The Associate must be willing to take direction from the supervisor regarding daily, weekly, and seasonal tasks and priorities and be able to act independently and reliably in carrying out assigned tasks. The position requires skillful operation of a variety of machinery, including mowers, field lining, machines, tractors, and floor cleaners. While typical daily hours will be 8:00 am - 4:00 pm or 10:00 am - 6:00 pm, the Associate must be able to work a flexible schedule (including occasional weekend and evening hours) as well as overtime as needed to accommodate the School's needs. All overtime must be approved in advance by the Director of Athletics. At the mutual discretion of the Athletic Director and Director of Facilities, the Athletic Facilities Associate might also be called upon from time to time to assist with various non-athletics activities and events, including snow removal and event preparations. Environmental Factors Performance of essential functions may involve exposure to adverse environmental conditions such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, extreme temperatures, and noise. Minimum Training and Experience High school graduate Valid Connecticut Driver's License (including Endorsement A for Activity Vehicles) with a good driving record. Endorsement A can be obtained after beginning employment at Hopkins. At least two years of athletic grounds and building maintenance experience. The ability to lift at least 50 pounds safely and properly. Physically able to work outside year round if necessary.
Compensation and Benefits:
