Job Description

Environmental Health & Safety Assistant
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Director of Environmental Health & Safety, this individual is responsible for basic safety functions for the EHS Department. This position is part time at 19 hours per week.
Position Responsibilities:
Assists with directing, planning organizing and providing technical services for the fire alarm systems and panels. Responsible for ensuring compliance with life safety codes, reviewing building plans and testing fire prevention equipment. Responsible for system maintenance of the fire alarm systems, including but not limited to: Smoke detectors, heat detectors, fire alarm network and audio-visual alarms. Inspects campus construction projects to meet fire code and life safety standards. Acts as primary liaison with State Fire Marshall and life safety system service providers Inspections of Fire Extinguishers, Above Ground tanks, AED's, Elevator Phone Testing, etc. Responsible for record-keeping management of all inspections, annual reports (code, fire safety, etc.) and other code/regulation compliance documentation. Compiles information and statistics for the annual fire safety report. Assists with interpretation of rules and regulations to university administration and staff and educating the campus community on fire safety. May serve as a representative of the Director of EH&S on administration matters in their absence. Recycling of used toners/inks and batteries, maintain and track various EH&S databases. Performs other duties and responsibilities assigned by the EH&S Director.
Qualifications:
Incumbents in this class will be required to possess or obtain Office of the State Fire Marshal Fire Inspector Certification. Minimum of three years of relative experience with fire alarm systems Demonstrated knowledge of Federal and State regulations related to fire and life safety programs Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others Must be innovated, service and self-motivated, team-oriented, adaptable and capable of managing competing priorities. Ability to communicate effectively with both the technical and non-technical personnel.

Contract Processor (Purchasing) Position Summary Under the supervision of the Purchasing Department this position supports the Purchasing and Contracting Department by processing purchase requisitions and Personal Service Agreements (PSAs) from submission through final execution. This role ensures compliance with University, State, and regulatory requirements and provides administrative and customer service support to campus and external stakeholders. This position is part time at 19 hours per week. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Process purchase requisitions, Purchase orders, vendor records and PSAs from initiation through final approval and distribution.
  • Create, maintain, and track contract files, including monitoring deadlines and renewals.
  • Route documents through purchasing and contract management systems and obtain required approvals.
  • Assist with Requests for Proposals (RFPs), including bid preparation and incorporation of State-required boilerplate language.
  • Enter and maintain requisition, bid, vendor, and contract data within purchasing systems.
  • Support recordkeeping, database maintenance, and related projects.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate or bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior experience in purchasing, contracting, accounting, or related administrative work preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe, and standard office systems.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
