This role serves as a key partner to Operations, transitioning the organization from reactive, site-driven execution to a more standardized, data-driven approach. The position plays a critical role across the full facility lifecycle—including ongoing operations, new site launches, and facility exit planning—while ensuring alignment between operational needs and long-term infrastructure strategy. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in warehouse and cold storage environments (including refrigeration systems), combined with strong analytical and program management capabilities. Key Responsibilities Facilities & Equipment Program Leadership Develop and manage centralized programs for MHE, facility infrastructure, and related CapEx Drive consistency in equipment selection, utilization, and replacement strategies across facilities Establish standards while allowing for operational flexibility by site Capital Planning & Asset Strategy Build frameworks for repair vs. replace and lease vs. buy decisions Support long-term asset lifecycle planning and capital forecasting Evaluate emerging technologies and define future-state equipment strategies Vendor & Contract Management Lead vendor consolidation and national contract strategy Negotiate and manage key supplier relationships to maximize scale benefits Evaluate new technologies and build ROI-driven business cases Facility Lifecycle Support Support new site launches, including equipment planning and facility readiness Lead or support facility exit planning and execution Define and assess fit-for-purpose facility profiles and layouts Process & Program Development Establish SOPs clarifying roles between centralized support and field operations Build scalable workflows for equipment procurement, maintenance, and capital approvals Continue development of centralized tracking tools (orders, transfers, budget tracking) Data, Analytics & AI Enablement Build visibility into asset utilization, maintenance costs, and capital spend Develop KPIs and reporting to support data-driven decisions Leverage AI and automation tools to improve workflows and operational efficiency Operational Support & SME Leadership Serve as a subject matter expert in cold storage operations, MHE, and facility systems Support sites with complex or escalated issues as needed Maintain strong field engagement to ensure practical, implementable solutions Qualifications 7-10+ years of experience in warehouse operations, MHE management, or facility operations (cold storage preferred) Strong expertise in material handling equipment and facility systems, including refrigeration Experience with CapEx planning, vendor management, and contract negotiation Demonstrated ability to build scalable processes and programs Strong analytical skills (advanced Excel required; BI tools preferred) Experience leveraging data, automation, or AI tools in an operational environment Ability to operate effectively both in the field and in a corporate setting Success in Role Within the first 6-12 months, this individual will: Establish clear SOPs defining centralized vs. operational responsibilities Build scalable frameworks for MHE and facility management Improve visibility into asset performance and capital spend Optimize vendor strategy and demonstrate measurable cost savings Implement KPIs and reporting to support decision-making Successfully support key site lifecycle initiatives
