Recreation Facility Manager Salary $56,021.06 - $72,827.38 Annually Location Longwood, FL Job Type Full Time Employment Job Number 2026-03802/16006 Department PR Parks and Recreation Opening Date 04/27/2026 Closing Date 5/18/2026 11:59 PM Eastern Description Benefits Questions Description This is a professional, managerial position which manages a park, and assigned personnel.
Responsibilities include:
operational oversight, strategic planning, and budget development and implementation, direct supervision of staff, which includes recruitment, interviewing, development, and performance management. The focus of this position is on operational management with both long and short-range assignments. This position focuses on insuring appropriate maintenance, repair, and stewardship of the park and park improvement projects. It also includes administrative oversight of recreational programming, facility rentals, leagues, special events and tournaments.. This position directly reports to the Park and Recreation Division Manager. •Salary will be determined depending on qualifications of candidates who exceed the minimum requirements as outlined within the job description. •Additional compensation based on licensure.
Essential Functions Note :
These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position. Ability to plan, organize, effectively communicate and provide leadership, management, supervision and administration of a CAPRA Accredited public park program at county facilities or as assigned (school or partnership). This includes but is not limited to developing and implementing marketing plans, public speaking, sponsorship, effective citizen engagement and partnership development. Strategic planning to develop and improve existing, as well as new, sport tournament and event programs to generate significant Sports Tourism economic impact, in conjunction with sports development programming. The position is responsible for marketing, evaluating programs, conducting surveys, identifying trends, recruiting, developing and evaluating contracted staff. The position is responsible for ensuring public safety in all aspects of park operations through effective oversight and maintenance of park facilities, implementation of best practices, capital and operational budgeting and regular inspection of park and amenities. Effectively hires, trains, schedules, supervises and evaluates employees assigned to County parks to execute day-to-day operational programming and maintenance, including County policies and procedures, training on safety, equipment usage, customer service, public relations, risk management, use of technology systems and other duties as assigned. This includes providing responsible coaching, mentoring and disciplinary action with staff as needed. Develops and oversees annual budget and procurement process to include efficient and timely planning for annual operations, capital program, expenditure oversight, purchasing, contracts, revenue generation, pro-active analysis and reporting of trends within assigned areas. Responsible for maintaining complete and accurate records of all park operations, including evaluations, program delivery models, marketing plans, program statistics, attendance records, revenue records, and other reports as necessary or assigned. Maintains effective working relationships with department management team, citizens, other county departments and affiliated agencies.
Additional Duties :
Performs other related work as required. In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Parks and Recreation, Physical Education, or a closely related field and three to five years management and supervisory experience in a public park setting. Must have experience as a sport tournament director and/or programmer. Must have experience coordinating with sports promoters and Executive Directors of National Sports Associations, for junior and adult competitions. CPR/First Aid certification (if you do not have, it will be required within your first 6 months of employment) Preference will be given to those with NRPA Parks and Recreation Professional certification A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Additional Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License. The manager at this facility is expected to work when the park is open and active. This includes evening and weekend hours as needed to be present for tournaments and local rentals. Demonstrates considerable knowledge of public service recreation and park philosophy, techniques, methodology and best practice standards. Displays outstanding customer service philosophy, creativity, initiative to excel and dedication to public service. Ability to supervise and train member staff in the Divisional, Departmental and County policy and procedures to effectively reach established goals. Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with the public, member staff and management. Must be able to work weekends, holidays, early mornings and/or late afternoon/evening shifts due to events and/or facility programming needs. Familiar with government purchasing procedures. Use of computer with Microsoft office products. Familiar with park and recreation specialty software is desired. All employees must attend Seminole County Required Trainings. Our compensation system includes competitive hiring salaries.
Paid Time Off:
New full-time employees accrue 20 days per year of Paid Time Off (16 days for 24-hour shift personnel). New part-time employees accrue 83 hours per year of Paid Time Off. Accrual rates increase with service time.

We observe 12 paid holidays which includes an employee birthday holiday and a floating Work/Life Day.
Bereavement Leave:
Employees may receive up to one week paid leave per fiscal year for absence due to the death of an immediate family member.
Florida Retirement System:
All employees in regularly established positions are automatically covered from the first day of employment. Seminole County makes contribution on behalf of the employee and the employee is also required to make a 3% contribution.
Employees Assistance Program:
Our EAP provider can help employees and their families with issues such as personal/family matters, financial debt counseling, substance abuse, etc.
Training and Development Program:
The Employee Learning Center provides training opportunities for employees which promote performance, enhance employees' work life experiences, and support the organization.

Health Insurance :
Health Insurance is effective the first of the month after completing 30 calendar days of employment. Seminole County offers a Point of Service (POS) plan. Dependent coverage is also available, the cost is split between the employee and employer. This benefit is not extended to part-time employees.
Life Insurance:
Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance for employees, equal to one times annual salary. Not extended to part-time employees.
Long-Term Disability:
Provides 60% of salary after 6 months of disability. Not extended to part-time employees. Optional benefits (employee-paid) for full-time employees: Deferred Compensation Plan (457): Employees may choose to have pre-tax payroll deductions made for deposit into this savings plan up to an IRS-established maximum.
Dental Insurance:
A choice of 3 plans is available for employees and dependents at employee expense.
Additional Life Insurance:
At employee expense, additional life insurance up to five times annual salary; dependent coverage also available.
Short-Term Disability Insurance:
60% of salary for the first six months of disability at employee expense.
Cancer and Specified Disease :
Pays a benefit directly to the employee if being treated for this disease.
Flexible Spending Account:
A pre-tax account for childcare and un-reimbursed medical expenses.
Pre-Tax Payroll Deductions:
Under Section 125 of the IRS Code, certain payroll deductions for insurance coverage may be taken out prior to income being taxed. 01 What is your highest level of education?
