The RealCold platform operates a national, omni-channel network, inclusive of traditional storage offerings, as well as comprehensive direct-to-consumer programs, which can reach the majority of U.S. consumers within 1 or 2 day ground service.
The Role:
The Maintenance Coordinator serves as the primary on-site point of contact for all facility maintenance activities at a RealCold warehouse. This role is responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and overseeing third-party maintenance providers, responding to maintenance issues and emergencies, and performing minor, non-specialty repairs as needed. This position does not perform licensed or specialized work (e.g., electrical, hydraulic, refrigeration, or complex mechanical systems). The Maintenance Coordinator ensures issues are identified quickly, communicated clearly, resolved efficiently, and documented appropriately—while maintaining a safe, operational facility that supports warehouse operations.
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance Coordination & Vendor Management Serve as the primary on-site liaison for all maintenance activities at the facility Coordinate and schedule third-party service providers for preventative maintenance, break-fix repairs, inspections, and emergency response Provide on-site oversight during vendor work to ensure scope, safety, quality, and communication expectations are met Communicate maintenance status, access needs, and downtime impacts with warehouse leadership and corporate facilities/procurement teams Emergency Response & On-Site Support Act as the on-site contact during maintenance emergencies, including after-hours support as required Provide immediate communication and coordination between vendors, operations leadership, and corporate teams during incidents Support site safety and operational continuity during unplanned maintenance events Light Maintenance & Handyman Work (Self-Performed) Perform basic, non-specialty repairs, including but not limited to: Minor door, dock, and hardware adjustments Replacing light fixtures, bulbs, signage, or minor fixtures (non-electrical work only) Basic patching, sealing, tightening, or alignment tasks Simple preventive tasks that do not require licensing or specialty tools Proactively identify facility issues that can be resolved quickly without external vendors Perform daily sanitation walks, temp checks, and fire extinguisher reviews Building grounds and maintenance, light cleaning, debris removal, pressure washing Preventive Maintenance & Site Readiness Assist in coordinating preventive maintenance schedules across building systems and equipment Conduct routine walk-throughs to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, or facility wear and tear Ensure maintenance activities support food safety, operational uptime, and regulatory compliance Serve as a backup, onsite, SQF practitioner Documentation & Communication Track maintenance requests, vendor visits, and work completion using approved tools or logs Maintain clear records of recurring issues, emergency events, and vendor performance Communicate trends, risks, and recommended improvements to facility leadership and corporate teams Review findings, upcoming maintenance needs, schedules and concerns with both Facilities and Operations teams so that information flows freely through the company. Requirements of the
Position:
High school diploma One year of a trade school preferred Minimum three (3) years of experience in facility maintenance coordination, building operations, or warehouse support roles Experience supporting third-party maintenance vendors in a warehouse, manufacturing, or cold-storage environment preferred Familiarity with safety standards, food-grade facilities, or regulated operating environments preferred Experience using maintenance logs, CMMS tools, or basic work-order tracking systems preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong working knowledge of building systems and common facility maintenance needs Working knowledge of reading plans and specs in multiple overlay formats Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, technicians, and warehouse leadership Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple maintenance activities simultaneously Key Success Factors Proactive identification of issues before they disrupt operations Clear, calm communication during urgent situations Strong follow-through with vendors and internal stakeholders Practical judgment about when to self-perform vs. escalate to third-party specialists
Work Requirements:
Must be able to pass a background check. Ability to work well under pressure. Ability to travel approximately 10-25% to support multi-site operations, audits, and customer engagements. Flexibility to work extended hours or weekends as business needs dictate.
Work Environment:
Work is performed across corporate office and cold storage facility environments. Facilities may include exposure to refrigerated or frozen temperatures, material handling equipment, and fast-paced operational settings.

Mobility & Standing:
Prolonged periods of standing, walking throughout facilities, and sitting at a desk.
Lifting & Carrying:
Regularly lifting and moving items up to 25-50 pounds, with occasional requirements to lift up to 100 pounds, sometimes with assistance.
Flexibility & Body Movements:
Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling in confined spaces, and climbing ladders for inspections.
Dexterity & Coordination:
Good hand-eye coordination and finger dexterity to operate tools, equipment, and office technology.
Sensory Abilities:
Adequate vision (close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception) for inspections, as well as good hearing to detect equipment malfunctions.
